Newhook was the best forward, Anderson did great as long as he did not have to involve any teammate (as per usual) and Slaf had a good game overall. If he is playing like tonight he will have tol 6 minutes on a consistent basis.
Slafkovsky was Habs best forward tonight and has nothing to do in the AHL.
Yeah it's now or never with Ylonen. If Heineman shows more then I hope they do what's right.I have to say I'm disappointed with Ylonen's game. He's just not there on some shifts. Xhekaj hits his stick with an long outlet and he's either not ready to accept a pass or he's hearing non existent footsteps. For a guy fighting for a spot constantly getting outplayed along the boards and then by both his younger line mates can't be winning favor with the coaching staff.
The truth is always somewhere in the middle. So reading this board, Slafs play ranges from hot trash to best hab forward.
Quite the polarizing player

He was fine but imo the 3rd wheel on his line. Anderson was MTL best player tonight and Newhook was great at both end of the ice. I like the protection of the puck from Slaf tonight but god, he's so slow to shot the puck at the net that it hurt many scoring chances for him.So reading this board, Slafs play ranges from hot trash to best hab forward.

Denis said Slaf didn't seem injured, he looked like he wanted to puke.
I think he has a virus or something.
Slafkovsky seems fine in post game interviews on YouTube live
He set up Newhook, Anderson and even Mailloux for awesome scoring chances. He coud’ve had at least 3 points. He was fine but imo the 3rd wheel on his line. Hope next game he's going to be better.
To think that Logan Mailloux has played 96 OHL games and he is this good already. A season in Laval will do him wonders working with Kelly Buchburger.
I didn't say he didn't make any good plays, I just feel that he was a little bit of a passenger in this game and I really hate his shot release, he need to work on that big time.He set up Newhook, Anderson and even Mailloux for awesome scoring chances. He coud’ve had at least 3 points.
The only reason people talks about hockey IQ is because last year he had to adjust to the size of the rink and the pace, sometimes he looked lost because of that but now he looks way better with his positioning and looks more comfortable. Now that it’s getting better he can show his vision.Count me in the group that thinks Slaf was our best forward tonight. The forechecking was good. Created a few turnovers and set up chances out of it. What can be harder to notice is all the smart little passes and one touches in transition that kept putting Newhook and Anderson into space. He was doing it consistently and facilitated a lot of offense.
I've never bought into the 'Slaf has no hockey IQ' crowd, total nonsense imo.
We saw an episode a while back about Dach working on his shot. Slaf is a perfect example of a player who plays with the puck too far away from his body.He was fine but imo the 3rd wheel on his line. I mean, replace "TV" with "radio" and you have the entire cast of TSN 690.Imagine having a job in which you just have to show up to say whatever the f*** on TV
Barron needs to go to the grit store…and buy some grit.

NHL Dmen in particular will eat that up. It is one of the reasons he looks awkward with the puck and his release is telegraphed.
