This kind of boggled my mind. Can any West Ham fans speak to Antonio's 'legend' status at the Club? Where does he rank in history? etc.
I don't think Antonio is at any legend status really. Maybe if he had managed to stay more healthy and made the move to striker earlier. He's been a great utility man having played everywhere from RB to striker and he's really made the position his own now, but I think this stat says more about West Ham than it does Antonio. Paolo Di Canio (who he tied for the record) is a legend as much for his personality and skill, as he is for his actual accomplishments.
Mind you, this is just PL goals and West Ham have famously never been much in the PL striker department. In terms of club/top-flight goals, this is nowhere near guys like Watson, Cottee, Hurst, Brooking, etc.
