He's useless. I don't know how fell so far off the cliff so fast. Rumors of his split with his long-term gf making him miserable. Other rumors about Jose and his fights. Don't know what it is, but it's not working.

He's still trying, so he didn't quit like DiMaria, but he looks like he just started playing the sport last year. Completely lost and with no confidence.

I mean, he's thirty. There's been a lot of wear on the tires, and sometimes it happens to players that they end up breaking down.

He'll be ok. He has a massive wage packet that will keep him warm at night.

Pochettino screams at Mike Dean's face - Wenger got suspended last season for 3 games for same thing.

Kane headbutts Azpilcueta, nothing done.

Davinson Sanchez stomp on Koscienly - no disciplinary action taken,

Of course I'm biased, but I don't think any other team in PL is benefiting more than Spurs from the FA atm.

Right. The powerhouse that is Spurs.

Oh how I wish this was true.

As for the comment on "tricking the ref" this is what you hear in most part of the world to be honest. I don't agree with it, but I have had the conversation many times with people from Southern Europe and it is always the same - if a player "tricks" the ref blame the ref and not the player. Without having personal experience from South America I believe it is the same thing there.

How many players are honest when it happens to them? In England (and North Europe in general) we talk about being "fair", but how fair are we? Dele Alli, Young etc. certainly do not play with any more "integrity" than others, but Brits/Northern Europeans in general do like to pretend that we are "better" than the rest. Maybe it is partly true, I'm not sure - which I believe is what Pochettino is addressing.

I'm sure there are other examples of players being exceptionally honest or fair (Di Canio comes to mind when he stopped play), but these are few and far between (the striker tells the ref that it wasn't a goal - they were 3-0 up so the consequences were hardly severe).

For the benefit of newer site members I'll repeat a point I made years back. Foreigners are filthy and disgusting, as a result of which they dive. In England we are the beacons of sporting purity, in consequence of which we go to ground a bit easily.

It is important that foreigners understand the truth of this and try to mimic our imperious example. They will discover our higher moral plane is beyond them, but in the attempt to attain it they can better civilise themselves.

:D

Joking aside (yes, some English players flop and dive just like the rest of them - Alli, Sterling, etc.), but the footballing culture is still head and shoulders above Spain and Italy's.
I grew up watching Serie A - fans being absolutely obnoxious, players crowding the refs, blatant time wasting etc... It's truly a culture there, as it is in South America and Spain.

On the whole, there are times I'd rather watch West Ham punt it about vs Huddersfield, than watch Atletico vs Barca/Real and the levels of sh*thousery that take place there (regardless of the actual quality of football).

I don't mind the punishment, but if you want to start arguing along the conspiracy theory lines how did Klopp end up with zero?

Anyway. I don't think it matters for Spurs and I do believe it is fair to punish that kind of behavior. Even if he hardly "screamed" at Dean.

I think it's ridiculous for managers to be suspended for that. Players act like 5 year olds any time the whistle blows and nothing happens. In all pro sports in the US, coaches are 5 times worse to refs than soccer refs are and it's no big deal.

And how is that a good thing?

I'm not a rugby fan, but my impression is that players and coaches behave completely differently.

In handball there are generally far less issues with refs and refereeing (not saying it doesn't happen - and there have been some fairly ridiculous incidents). Culture is different. Partly because when you break the rules punishment is immediate and strictly enforced.

I used to play both handball and football at a decent level. As a handball player I would talk to refs, but never shout or have any heated discussions. As a football player I did in almost every game.

As long as the FA is consistent going forward I have no issues with this.

I guess because the Ref saw it happen. *Hope people get the joke*

I don't think this will be too relevant in the scheme of things, and I also wouldn't be surprised if this was appealed and reduced somehow either. It's annoying but whatever.

I don't really understand why how coaches act in the US toward refs would be the golden standard.

Interesting but also slightly daunting stuff

What I took from that video is that it makes a lot of sense why Arsenal were able to only loan players this past window and that Ozil will be off the team by August this year.

Also that Chelsea has the most plastic fans because they have the largest number of corporate seats.

Also, NHL, NFL, and NBA coaches coming onto the ice/field to yell in a ref/ump's face would face pretty significant punishment. MLB is a bit of a different animal and honestly I'm not sure why it's allowed there.

I didn't see the incident for Poch. Did he go onto the field to scream at an official? Or this was after the game he got into it with them?
