This thread depresses me. I refuse to cheer for losses any more, don't get me wrong, if the whole season completely goes to shit I'll gladly take a top pick, some might even say it may be best for us to do so, but I can't stomach hoping for losses anymore.

I honestly don't think we're as bad as our play and record indicates and fully expect a turnaround at some point. I'm gonna just wait and see where the chips fall, if it happens it happens, that's fine, but there's no way I'm rooting for us to bottom out again.

Nope, not happening.

Go Habs!

Yeah, I can't fathom watching the game and cheering for them to lose. Like watching a colonoscopy – it might be necessary but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it. The past three seasons I cheered for losses from a safe distance, checking the score without watching the game.

This year it was reasonable to expect some progress, but after one month our team looks like crap. Not only are they not developing, they're going backwards. Could be a slump. Could be ineffective coaching. Could be some of our young players may simply not be as good as we hoped. But if nothing improves, we may need another colonoscopy. Another shit season.

I'll make the best of whatever happens but, like you, I think this team's better than we've seen. It has to be. No logical reason the same group of young players should be worse than they were last season.

Yep , tank next year too , not even kidding btw
By 2026/27, our current roster of young players will have 5/6 seasons under their belt. If they're still a bottom-5 roster, it means they've made zero progress. Adding Demidov and another top pick to a terrible team makes us into a terrible team with a couple of good players. That's not a formula for success, it's a treadmill of failure.

Mid frickin' November and the second thing I do after brewing a mug of coffee is check NHL.COM for tank results.
I never saw this coming even with Laine and Reinbacher out. :noway:

It was a good night on the front...

Even with Laine, I had us as a bottom 5-7 team, i don't think he'll be a difference maker to move the needle IMO

I've since accepted that we will be bottom 4, some teams have overachieved and might already be hard to catch

I disagree completely.

They are bad on the ice and near every stat and metric backs up them being in the basement.

I can cheer as hard as I want but the team still looks like dogshit out there.

I don't cheer for losses, but I'm not delusional. This team is not good and I don't see that changing this season.

If they do turn it around, then great I'll be behind them. I wanted them to be better this season. I was done with checking the tank scores. I'd much rather be looking at the playoff standings.

I dont cheer for them to lose. Plan A is I just want them to play well. If not as a team, at least demonstrate individual progress and at least show us your grateful to play for the most historic team in the best league in the world by giving a shit and playing hard.

If i cant get that, then the only little bit of joy i have left for this team this year rests in this thread and the hope of better things to come.

We’re just missing the Daily Key Losing Strategies by professor @Adam Michaels to make this thread official

He’s the master of losing and our guru through this sad familiar world we’re in again

Despite how shit things are going at the moment, I will wait a while before I start doing my calculations.

This year is also the year we have to calculate the convoluted conditions of the Calgary pick.

I was cheering for them to lose, this year I'm not because we got Demidov.

Its more of i hope we win but if we don't and pick relatively high again, that's just another high value asset in the organization while they work through a long rebuild.

I think a lot of the shifted expectations to hope for a step may have also dulled the product for people, cause before you wanted then to lose so when they made a play every once in awhile it was exciting. But there were some bad stretches of play.

I was cheering for the mix jonestly this year.

But while we are here, at the bottom of the league, we have to embrace the tank and stay there.

Anyway, it feels like home.

Need a top 4 pick badly.

i'm good with either one of Hagens, Martone, Misa, Schaefer.

Need no.1 : elite talent. I think all four of them have it.

Need no.2 : No.1 center. Misa and Hagens have the potential to be that.

Need no.3 : Size and grit on the top 6. Martone

Need no.4 : Top 4 RHD. Thre is no such thing on the top 10 in this draft but if we draft Schaefer, Guhle becomes that top 4 RHD we need.

So Schaefer is probably the least of our needs but he is so good, and imo, is the one that has the better chances at being a superstar (no.1 D), that i wouldn't even be mad if we end up picking him at 1OA.

we didn't account for the Dach injury, that hurt. However did anyone think Dach and Monty would be this bad??? Suzuki and Slaf have been uninspiring, the team doesn't look like they care much at all. If this was any other coach I'm sure he would have been 'Ducharmed' by now

This thread makes me think a few too many posters are going to prefer for the Habs to be at the bottom for the next decade.

Exactly the opposite, most posters in the tank thread are not happy they are at the bottom.

It’s the folks who keep using its a rebuild nonsense that are ok with shitty hockey.

I don't think people are super happy to be at the bottom. At the same time, we have a similar team as last year. The moment I saw Laine injury, I has sure the team would be in the bottom 5. We all want the team to compete or make the playoff. But the team is just not ready for it. Slaf and Hutson are the only 2 players drafted By kent with the team right now.

The team will be better with Reinbacher, Demidov and 2025 draft pick coming in soon (1-2 years).
