I think Edmonton is a bit too old and lacking a real 2RD and will need to adjust and fix during the regular season and TDL. To be honest, I don't really care about their regular season. The brags about regular season success and division titles above are laughable, just get to the playoffs and keep improving the team! Hoping they LTIR Kane and pull a Vegas. Hoping that is a 5 million dollar Dman that is legit at 2RD. I get it'd be hard for Kane to comeback and dominate but I do think he'd be a tremendous 'free' 3rd line player skating around and causing shit! An outscorer perhaps.

VGK is always good.

Everyone else is neither here or there...

I like what SJ is doing and think Grier is doing a great job
I like Seattle's roster but don't see them as a cup contender
I think Vancouver has a very good squad but the goaltending may be a problem with Demko being iffy
I think Calgary is doing a nice rebuild and will be good in a few years but not this one
I like LA and like their players but no Doughty is hard to overcome IMO
I think Ana has a tremendous rebuild going on I love their captain and starting goalie :)

Canucks have an. Elite dman,a meh second pair guy and then a bunch of 3rd pair guys. If their elite guy goes down they are screwed
Soucy and Myers arent 3rd pair and Hronek can play 1st pair on most teams. Not my fault you lack hockey knowledgw to know this. Also teams dont have 4 elite dman in their top 4.

Vegas losing half their roster will win the division after being 8th last year and losing Marchy and stephenson over the summer? Make it make sense

This is a damn good roster to my eyes. Pacific also seems weak to me this season. Lots of key injuries and rebuilds going on.

Like the forwards (go Hertl go!0
Like the D
Like the goalie and think Samsonov is a very good backup goalie and is cast right

Plus, they may pull some shenanigans with Lehner to get more cap space.

That's my answer.

My questions for you

1. where do you think they finish
2. what flaws do you see that I'm missing?

Playoff teams
1. Edmonton
2. Vancouver
3. Vegas
- - -
Bubble teams
4. Seattle
5. LA
- - -
Outside the mix
6. Anaheim
7. Calgary
8. SJ

I would have had Kings 4th but the Doughty injury I think puts them in a fight for a wild card spot. I could see only 3 teams making it from the Pacific.

Vancouver is going to be better than last year and one of the more exciting teams to watch in the NHL.

There's a high likelihood that Edmonton cruises late in the season once they've clinched. They just saw game 7 of the finals and the regular season is not going to be (nor should it be) their focus. Canucks could also put less stock in the division since they ended up quite injured by the time the playoffs were over.

One of them probably gets the division depending on which one does more of what I said above. I suspect Edmonton will take the foot off the gas more than Vancouver since Tocchet probably wouldn't accept such a strategy.
The Oilers turn into the best team in the league for the last 2 months of every season tbh. They'll also be getting Kane back around that point in the year this season as well. They're going to do what they always do: start slow and then torch everybody in February/March.

That said if they actually start on time for once I don't see anybody in the division catching them. They still almost caught Vancouver last year despite both teams spending months on opposite ends of extreme PDO heaters.

Read the thread. Bozo was losing his mind over me putting Kings in a playoff spot

Cool but like... its been 25 games? Surely you see how either team can still miss the playoffs right?

If your goal was to say hey look the Kings are in the race, there's better ways to do it than by showing everyone you don't understand how points% work after 25 games.

If the Kings end up missing you're gonna look even stupider for bragging 2 months into the season.

Once again please read the thread, unless reading is too difficult for you? Instead of being ignorant. He was going off about how the loss of Doughty will sink them.

Points percentage this early in the season is totally irrelevant. Games in hand in December mean absolutely nothing, it changes every stinking day so why waste your time?

Guys read the thread maybe? Summer i predicted kings to finish in playoffs. Doughty then got injured and Jack Johnson lost his mind on me saying I was an idiot for thinking that despite not knowing Doughty would get injured. I posted here to show it looks like the Kings are okay without Doughty. 25 game sample is pretty good sample size.

I read it, and I think bumping the thread after 2 months is incredibly petty and stupid, especially the way you did it.

Bumping it and saying "the Kings are firmly in a playoff position on December 1st without Doughty" is much different than saying "the Kings have more points than the Canucks."

Why is this so important to you in December? I can understand bumping this thread in April or maybe even March.
But bumping this in December is playing in the danger zone to a level that would alarm even Kenny Loggins

Thanks ROWLET, always appreciate your ‘intelligent’ advice

Because kings are still a good team without doughty i guess?

If the pacific wasn’t so bad they would miss playoffs, the Kings are stuck in mediocrity and the future doesn’t look too bright in my opinion , you should be hoping they miss playoffs and get a lotto pick cause I’ll tell you what they’re not winning the cup

The kings would be in a playoff spot in the east and be 2nd in the Atlantic by points% currently..
im not a kings fan...

Same could be said for standings themselves. Any margin of just a couple points means nothing right now. Some have had much harder schedules than others too. All factors play a bigger biasing role in a small sample size.

That said it's very even right now. VGK has been the best and are the only ones with a legit goal differential in the division. The others (Kings, Nucks, Oilers) are all very similar. Oilers have been disappointing and Nucks have had crazy bad injury luck (Miller, Demko, Boeser, Hronek, Joshua, Petey playing hurt at the start etc). Oilers could go on a tear, Canucks could get healthy/add a defenseman (Demko almost back, Miller probably back soon).

I am a Kings fan. This is right about the time of year where the Kings historically slump. They do have a new coach and things may be different under Adolpf Hiller , but past performance is generally a good indicator of the future. aka history tends to repeat itself
they were very hot and cold last year but this year i feel they've been more steady, having the players not hate their system should help with consistency too. under the hood their analytics are amazing
