Most of the posts were about how the Bruins would struggle due to the Marchand and McAvoy injuries and would be too far out by the time they came back.

So it’s too early for those people to be wrong? Because they were in first in the league when they got those guys back.

As soon as Bergeron signed that absurd contract I knew the Atlantic was about to get f***ed

The regular season was cut by 4 months and playoffs start December 2022? OOF Reilly !

Aint this you?

So when the leafs were bad for a bit, not to early to say "told ya so". But now that more time has past and theyre near the top its "To early to say anything".

Get out of here.

Boston has been shockingly good, did not expect this kind of start from them. Ottawa has been shockingly bad, I thought for sure they'd be competing for a WC spot with all the roster changes this year. Florida about as expected, too many losses on the roster, no futures, just a really bad spot to be in. Went all in and it didn't work out.

In my defense, I was lead to believe the injuries to their key guys would keep them out a lot longer, which factored in to me thinking that might cost the Bruins a playoff spot.
Back to Danpantz's point, though, the Bruins were not struggling at all even while those key guys were out. It's not like them coming back earlier righted a sinking ship.

To be fair, I would have never guessed the Bruins would start out the way they have, so can't really fault anyone for thinking they struggle at least a bit outta the gate.

I bet every year the leafs will go out in the first round. Been playing with house money for years.

One of these decades Im bound to be wrong though.

;)
I'm sure you'll say I'm 'following' you when in reality it's just that you're always in every single Leafs thread, but do you ever get bored with constantly spewing such negative, argumentative thoughts? It's like you wake up and immediately open HF and get into a frenzy at every single Leafs thread. Why don't you spend more time posting about your own team? It's weird.

Ya something about a Cup run back in 96 or something silly like that, nothing impressive like the Leafs in the same timeline.
That's sort of my point, you're chirping the Leafs for being nothing more than a regular season team these days when in reality the Panthers haven't done much of anything in 20 years, including in the regular season.

Atlantic going to a be a battle until the end....Florida, Toronto, Tampa, Detroit and Florida.
Detroit needs more time and I think they'll slip out of a playoff spot here soon, but long term the Atlantic is absolutely insane. Buffalo, Detroit, and Ottawa all trending upwards in terms of potential and Tampa, Toronto, Florida, and Boston aren't changing in the short term.

Who's that more embarrassing for though?

A franchise that is expected to lose and toil away or the Mecca of hockey franchise?

I expect to see changes to the standings this season....Toronto Florida Tampa Buffalo Detroit are going to make it interesting (the hopeful wild card bunch). I can't see Boston missing the playoffs.

I mean as a fan of either team it wouldn't make a difference would it? Like as a Panther fan is it somehow easier to have a shitty team because your team doesn't have history? Doesn't make sense to me.
Uh yes, I would think it's easier to deal with the Panthers sucking as a Panthers fan as they don't have the yearly sky high expectations or a 65 year drought to think of.

The Atlantic is insane right now and i guess the east as a whole is kind of nuts too.

The 6th place team in the atalantic/11th place team in the east (Habs) would be in a wild card spot in the west.

Eh I mean I don't see it. What the Leafs did when I wasn't born doesn't have any effect on my enjoyment of the current Leaf team. I really don't see how being a fan of a smaller market team that sucks would be any better. I guess there is more outside scrutiny but I stopped caring about that a long time ago.

It's the same as being a Leafs fan except with the added anxiety that if your team goes through a period like the Leafs 2006-2016 years you won't have a team anymore.
