This looks about right to me. I imagine we potentially see a little bit more shifting in terms of what TB and others do to become cap compliant. I don't see NYI squeaking out a playoff berth this year.

The Sabers did get screwed. They were an incredible team last year. I expect the same this season.

Yeah this was built on a projection with rosters as they are so it assumes Cirelli, Killorn, Johnson and company are all with Tampa which isn’t the way that the season will likely end up shaking out.

If you think about it the Islanders were lucky to have made the playoffs last season. A huge reason for that was their 10 game winning streak from October 10, 2019 - November 5, 2019. However right before the regular season got suspended they were on a 7 game losing streak with a record of 0-3-4 and were technically out a playoff spot in both the Metropolitan and Wild Card, so they were lucky because of the points percentage and how that factored into the standings.

They were falling because of several key injuries. When they got most of them back they won 2 1/2 playoff series.

Sabres got screwed last year and now again this year. Having said that, they still squeak in.
Buffalo, Boston, Pittsburgh and Islanders will all be within two points of each other.

1. Flyers
2. Capitals
3. Rangers
4. Sabres

5. Penguins
6. Bruins
7. Islanders
8. Devils
Don't even start on how the Sabres got screwed last year.

During the 2017-18 season when Toronto had a record of 49-26-7 for 105 points that put them 4th in the Eastern Conference. Because of the divisional format that meant they were 3rd in the Atlantic and had to play Boston without home ice advantage.

However a team like Pittsburgh who was 5th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 47-29-6- for 100 points got home ice advantage against Philadelphia in the first round due to finishing 2nd in the Metropolitan.

Yikes. Rangers and Sabres over Isles, Penguins, and Bruins?

Don't think I'll side with this one.

Everyone is factoring in the fact that the Bruins lost Krug and likely Chara, and Pastrnak/Marchand are expected to miss some time, right?

Didn't think so.

Being in that division will be great for the teams profile. That divisio n should be one to watch.

Each division is trading off attention against odds of success. Central is easy, but I'd guess no one will be watching.

I still remember some Sabres fans saying how their rebuild was ahead of the Leafs and would soon be making the playoffs because they had just drafted Jack Eichel and made that trade for Ryan O'Reilly.
What precisely has Toronto done with their rebuild? Poking fun at Buffalo is all you really got I suppose.

Islanders had a lot.of significant injuries that hurt them during the second half.of the regular season... When healthy they have proven to be one of the better teams on the league. They gave Tampa their toughest series and were the runner-up last year in my opinion.

And the Caps and Pens didn't?

Who do you think the Isles are going to knock out from WAS, PIT, BOS, and PHI?

All four of those teams were better than the Isles last year and while BOS and PHI lost a player of Toews caliber I see that effecting the Isles a lot more than the other teams unless Dobson steps in without fault.

For the past 2 years everybody has downplayed the Islanders odds of making the playoffs, nice to see they getting slightly more respect this time around

Islanders have a team built for the regular season, so my guess is we have a strong first half combined with an average second, but that first half should be enough to squeak us in to spot 3 or 4.
