Trotz spent 20 million in free agency and didn’t get the one position this franchise has been lacking since inception. Well done trotzy
I'm not sure who his alternative options were? Monahan, Lindholm, and Stephenson? I think he did seriously pursue Stephenson at least. I don't think I ideally want any of those contracts either. If Monahan stays healthy and continues to produce, perhaps he's the one who would have been the smart pick in hindsight, but anyway I can understand not placing that bet on July 1st.

End of the day, Preds need to just do a better job of integrating their internal options.

This right here. Trotz already saying he’s looking for a center while not trying every option available in house is so Nashville. Give our young guys a chance. I would hate to get drafted by Nashville knowing I’ll have to wait years before actually getting a chance on another team lol

Let’s at least be realistic. No way is he even available for a trade. New York is contending and they won’t trade good players away while they are
I'm on board to ship him out to get younger, we may have to take a bit of salary back but Im all for it and you will find a large portion of rangers fans who feel the same way

Guy has 5 years after this year left at $8.5 million AAV and has been steadily declining. He could bounce back for a few years in a new situation but that’s a huge risk.

Realistically, how much of that contract are the Rangers willing to eat in order to make him a palatable, positive asset to trade - and then at that point, is it even worth it?

You aren’t talking about salary for a year or two…that’s six years of retention…for what? Something that is definitely inferior. He’s not getting some blue chip value back unless you get that salary going back way down.

only reason not dealt is nmc
R mgmt may well not listen to bern and be smart, but correct move is not all in a given season but extend the window multiple campaigns

key here is to EXTEND window

He is not showing crazy dramatic decline at present, tho it is fair to ? now vs 5 yrs in mid 30s, but that is for 99% of players

what drives us R fans nuts, besides predictability of serious 1 timer slapper on PP, is on/off chemistry w/Kreider, who we view as more consistent

as to return, first job is to establish where he will accept going [and why]
THEN we can figure out what works in terms of assets, etc., totality of factors

personally, I don't see him going w/o Shesty in a package
he has to be told, look
Lindgren, bread, Igor, Trouba, you -- we are not putting vets over our cap picture
we get you want a choice relocation and will try to accommodate
but we run this team, not you/vets
and you don't have to waive
but we don't have to play you first line -- mo like 4th -- when he dress you

Andres athansioeu plays his best hockey at center. he is not great but in his contract year could be had for nothing. I think if you play at 3rd line center he gets 20 goals and 20 assists. the hawks lack high end depth but they do have forward depth in the bottom 6. especially with maroon smith and Reichel playing well.

How in 26 years have the Preds never had a legit true number one centre?
And don’t tell me Peter Forsberg because that was not even a quarter of a season.

Zibanejad is absolutely available because the Rangers desperately need to cut cap. And because Chytil emergence they could take a bottom six C back instead of a top six C back

I see him in the same light as ROR; can be your 1C, but isn't a clear and undisputed #1 center. Ideally a 2C on a great team

Arnott (at least in his prime) was a true #1 albeit at the bottom end.

If the argument was true legit #1 offensive superstar center then no, neither ROR nor Arnott fits but that wasn't the complaint.

I agree. He had a 72 in 75 season with us in one of the better C years we've had in our history and enough to be a # 1. I mean he was 30th overall in forward scoring that year, he can only be a #1 center that year.

Kapanen is interesting. Maybe Mailloux? No to Evans he's five years older than Tomasino.
Kapanen is a good prospect, is good defensively and I see him as a future third center. But I am very hesitant to trade him.Why aren't Tomasino and Parissen playing?

What would you Ask for Tomasino and Parssinin from the Habs?
Would be nice to get a 3rd round pick at least for Tomasino, rather than lose him on waivers.

Ask again about Parssinen in a few weeks. He has started to get a chance again recently.
