He might be cut (it's entirely possible), but his rationale (somehow losing a "battle" to Lauzon because Lauzon was scratched) was dumber than dumb.
I agree with you. I don't think Lauzon is a lock because he didnt play today.

If only Rasner scored that last second tying goal... (It hit the post)
I am happy with the Czech perfomace. Losing 1:0 to Canada is nothing to be ashamed of .

Very happy with Czech performance, great game, I didn't expect this outcome. Oh and Konecny is so good, I am really excited about him. Both goalies were excellent today.

Yes. The Czech's look sneaky good.

If they play more physical and press the play low off the end boards in the O'zone they could really do some good things.

My observation though over the last number of years is in and out consistency and intensity in their game... not sure why that is ?
Maybe you have a reason.:dunno:

Bobby Mack just said two of McKeown, Lauzon, Juulsen and Dermott will be cut.
And two of Chartier, Hawryluk, Quenneville, Barzal and Merkley will be cut.

My guess is McKeown, Lauzon, Hawrkluk, and Merkley out of that list. Although Barzal isn't far behind imo, as I don't see what role he even fills.

If anything, had Flynn used that rationale with Dermott, it would have made sense.

With Juulsen...? Not really.

I thought Chabot struggled today but will make the team. My cuts are Juulsen, Lauzon, Quenneville and Hawryluk.

Barzal has to be kept. That's just it. You keep saying it... not a Role player.

High skill, high vision, high motor when needed. Not a plug.

A backup to any of the high skill guys. Skill can't be invented.

It's true, but if he's kept I don't think he should be playing limited minutes as a 4th liner as he isn't very good in that role, they have other guys who are more effective at that. If he's kept, it should be as a backup player in case of injury or poor play for the top 6.

I know you are a Devils fan but I like the physical element that brings Hawryluk, so I'd prefer him to Quenneville. Merkley will be the other cut for sure. For Barzal, I don't think he deserves a spot, but it's to risky to cut him with Point being hurt.

On D, it's kind of surprising they scratched Lauzon today. He played pretty well yesterday but, I'm not sure of what he can bring to the table.
Dermott wasn't very good, but played well in the CIS games.
Juulsen is the best of the two rightees, so I'd cut McKeown.
So I would cut him and probably Lauzon.

Interesting game for both sides. Czechs look like a dangerous team. Canada found a good line (Crouse Stephens Konecny) and Blackwood looked really strong. Barzal looked pretty bad, but I can't imagine him being cut with Point having injury risks.

John Quenneville is a complimentary player who can fit any role. He also was used a bit on the PK and many defensive zone faceoffs (he didn't lose a draw today). He is a left shot which gives him a massive advantage over Hawryluk and Merkley. He is the biggest of the three. Kelly McCrimmon is also the assistant coach.

Thing I don't get about the Cuts is the players I was looking to cut would have played both games but looking at guys who didn't play the first game 2 of the 4 potential forwards I would think of cutting weren't playing that first game.
