"That guy" was Zajac. He didn't it pass it "right at him." Zajac sealed the boards. 9/10 that puck gets past him.

Beyond that what do people expect of million dollar or less defensemen?

Personally I think Morrow is going to play well above his contract value this season

Don't pass it right at him. That what I expect and if you F up. Then don't skate across the slot to cover someone that is already covered. Pretty basic stuff.

Well this has been largely a forgettable game. Just glad no one got hurt and that preseason is over. Bring on the regular season.

I don't know that any of the bubble guys made a great case tonight to crack the opening night roster. Ves and Lemieux where ok but not great. Dano was also mediocre.

Poolman with another okish game. Niku was solid.

Hard to say what they do with the those few depth spots.

Dano was pretty invisible tonight. Did not see much from any bubble guy really. Roslo is going to be scary in his own end while he continues to adjust to C. Not sure how much I like the idea of Ehlers Roslo and Ves

A rare out-goalied at home. (?)

But I wonder if that was the Devils opening roster?

Excuse my creeping, but yes, that was close to our lineup. It was the first time the majority of the guys have played together this preseason. Ty Smith may make the opening night lineup as a top 6 D man. Honestly, that was probably the biggest omission. Noesen was out too, and he has very good chemistry with Coleman. You could tell he was missing.

But yeah, mostly a full lineup.

Thought that Niku had his best game of the preseason. Hope Maurice gives him a shot.

Rolslovic showed flashes of skill but had a poor game by his standards. Vesalainen looked good but still needs some time to adjust.

Helle was left out to dry tonight. I don't blame him for the loss but a stop on one of their high quality chances could have kept us in the game.

Pretty sure that Poolman is going to be sent down to start the season. Hasn't shown enough to make the roster.

Laine had another strong game though he still hangs on to the puck a little too much.

Post-game audio:

Players - Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor and Mathieu Perreault.

Coach Maurice post-game scrum topics: Coach Maurice: Did he see what he wanted from his group to end the games of training camp? Thoughts on the goal from Kyle Connor and the chemistry of the top line. Did the way his pre-season go sway his opinion as to whether he should go 13/8 or 14/7 for roster composition? Did he feel like the guys on the bubble make any separation? What is the focus of the group over the course of the next week? Any concern with the cross-ice opportunities? What was he looking for when he flipped Lemieux/Vesalainen? What did Skyler McKenize do for his stock?

Yup, no idea how our coach can't stop his stupid seniority based special team appointments on D. It looked infinitely better the 20 seconds Morrissey was on it.
I think for Morrissey to be a prominent part of the PP the Jets would need to design a unit that works from left to right. As it is now both their PP's run right to left. And at this point we have fresh faced kids throughout both PP's. Not sure where you are getting vets over young players as the only player it could apply to is Morrissey.

What are the lines? Who's playinf with Laine
And who's playing with vesalainen
Based on what we have seen so far I'd say we start the season:

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
MP-Little-Laine
Ehlers-Rosie-Dano/Lemieux/KV
Copp-Lowry-Tanev

Defense seems a little less certain and I'm still hopeful Niku finds his way into the starting lineup.
