I read an article a few days ago where it said that MSL wants to make his players unconformable. I guess it's a way to make them realize they have something to work on.

Young players usually play worse when tired until they get used to NHL pace play. It's a marathon not a track meet, but rookies try to go all out, all the time to impress.

He just looked tired to me.

Thought overall he was involved, wanted the puck & tried to be creative. He didn't really have chemistry with Suzuki/Caufield. He deferred to them too much.

He & Dach seemed to be developing some chemistry, and a top 9 position is better for him right now. Suzuki attracts a lot of attention and the best defensive players.

Enough F'ing around with the lineup. I still have no clue who can play with Suzuki and Caufield. Slaf won't be able to handle the minutes/matchups. Anderson has zero puck possession skills. Hoffman doesn't execute very many good hockey plays and his shot is over-rated. Drouin doesn't have the compete necessary to merit 1st line duties and when he has shown some jam, he ends up injured. I would use Evans if we keep Dach and Monahan at C.
I get we want to see what lies down the road but most of those guys are nothing more than warm bodies.

I'd try Monahan on their wing. Overall, I agree. Evans brings speed, net drive & defensive play, but Monahan has better hands.

Marty had millions living a quiet life in Connecticut with his lovely wife and he signed up for this?
Kent? Same thing.
The gravitational pull of a prestigious NHL job.

There may have also been a personal angle that played a part, with both Kent and Marty reconnecting with close relatives. Marty glows whenever he mentions his dad.

I'd prefer Monahan also, but I have no clue where they want him to play. He took a number of shifts at C against the Leafs.

Well, he's always played as a center, but I believe he played some wing in Calgary with Gaudreau/Lindholm if they wanted Tkachuk on another line.

With Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak & Evans, center position is one of the strengths of the team.

Which is ironic because when we were good, center was a weakness. When we suck, all the sudden we have depth.

I loved Marty sending Guhle right back out there after his monumental F Up. He'd be in Laval already if it was Therrien behind the bench.

Don't want to defend previous coaches (especially Therrien) and GMs but none of them were ever given a green light for a rebuild like Hughes and MSL have.
