Feel like you gotta go Heinen with Milsy/Boes, Sprong with Petey/Debrusk, and Suter in between Sherwood Hoglander

Forwards look deep as hell while healthy

even after tonight i don’t really see a place for sprong without injuries hitting

i think for the third guy with those pairs, what you ideally want is a guy who can add. someone like sprong, or current lek, might score some pts but he would just be taking pts away from petey/debrusk. i’d be more inclined to go with someone who would do the dirty work so they can score more efficiently. something like:

suter miller boeser
heinen petey debrusk
josh bluegers garland
sherwood no idea hoglander

can raty be that 4C? i don’t quite see it yet but...

Not a super flashy night, but Lekkerimaki showing a maturity to his game, making a lot of smart little plays. He didn't hold that top line back at all. So far he looks very much like an NHL player.

I feel like Raty has a lot of nuance to his game that he can stick on the opening night roster over Sasson. He's an upgrade on Aman IMO and until Blueger and Joshua are back healthy I think he makes the team but likely will be sent down once everybody's 100%.

Hoglander - Raty - Garland
PDG - Suter - Sherwood

looks good to me with Aman as the 13F. Then once Blueger and Joshua are back you put their line with Garland back together and Suter either bumps down to the 4C or rotates games with PDG on the wing with Raty or Aman in the middle.

Well maybe i'll eat my hat on Sprong. He ceratinly has these polarizing moments. A couple shifts this game i was yep that's gonna piss Tocchet off then he goes full Phil the thrill Kessel of 2017 even adds the munster mug. He's gonna make things interesting that's for sure

Woo Wolanin Juulsen all looking bad especially Juulsen jeesh just neutering Hughes and any transition play. Juulsen started and ended brutal last year looks like the same trend again. That Hunt goal was so bad. Wolanin struggled in the back to back. Got caught in no mans land on the Honzek goal. Not assertive enough. At least he can make a pass that isn't 20ft or less though. Woo has some decent physical moments but doesn't have any decent NHL traits.

Lekkerimaki is pure class and is actually good defensively. Gotta show a bit more assertiveness at the right times though not just be there. Handled the back to back scenario well and was the most polished of the trio who were working off rust and just playing a 3/4 throttle pre season game.

Blais looked cooked again. Not sure what he was doing all summer but yikes so far. Smith is an easy cut at this stage. Karlsson showed poorly in this back to back was struggling to get there and make strong accurate plays

Raty was pretty decent same with Bains. Certainly keeping themselves in the mix so far. See how they do as things ramp up.

Sasson showed well as did DeGuiseppe for 4th line duties.

The incumbents were mostly poor and shaking the cobwebs outside of Hughes dancing around players and Sherwood getting assertive after getting rocked. Debrusk's play style is a welcome addition

If Lekk doesn't get the 1st line role with Petey and Debrusk, he is a good forechecker, and good defensively in the neutral zone, so he could handle a 4th line role, or 3rd line role if there is an injury. This guy belongs in the NHL imo.

Assuming Blueger is back for regular season and Joshua is out, starting line-up:

Heinen-Miller-Boeser
DeBrusk-Pettersson-Sprong
Hoglander-Suter-Garland
PDG-Blueger-Sherwood
Aman

Raty, Lekkerimaki, Karlsson, and Bains have been pretty good, but I think only PDG and Aman's spots are really open short of something miraculous. Aman will stick because he plays centre and requires waivers, I could see Karlsson stealing PDG's spot maybe, but that's about it.

I understand your point. However, it’s generally not ideal for a top 20-year-old prospect to be playing fourth-line minutes. I believe it would be more beneficial for him to either begin in a top-six role, where he’s more likely to thrive, or to start in the AHL and get significant ice time.

They need to try Sprong on the Pettersson line, IMO. At this point, it's looking like Pettersson needs a play-driver, and unlike Hoglander, Sprong does not play with tunnel-vision. He's also used to covering for Kuzmenko.

Heinen - Miller - Boeser
Sprong - Pettersson - DeBrusk
Hoglander - Suter - Garland
Di Giuseppe - Blueger - Sherwood

Do you think we go 13F and 8D again or 14 and 7?

Agree. He didn't look great tonight but he was probably having trouble reading Petey's lethargic body language. For such a skilled player, he doesn't look easy to play with.

Really depends. I think Karlsson has actually looked quite good, and I may be wrong, but I think he also requires waivers. Aman will be kept as a back-up centre probably, so it depends on management's view on PDG and Karlsson's waiver situation.

I don't think they'll keep Juulsen and Friedman both on the roster, but based on what I just saw from the right-side defense without Myers and Hronek, I have no idea.

The top-nine forwards are pretty much locked in from what I can see, so these are all fourth-line problems.

Karlsson is waivers-exempt. Also, Puckpedia has added a Waivers Tacker and it's sorted by team!

If we send down Juulsen does anybody pick him up? I like the nastiness he brings and like him as a depth piece but he's not an every game player but would still hate to lose him. Could maybe fetch a 4th / 5th?
