I know that it was only one period, but the new guys all looked like upgrades from last year's team.

Trouba is a top 4 guy already. His reads in the d-zone are already good - imagine what a year with Huddy teaching him is going to do!

From what I've seen:

Trouba > Hainsey (or at the very least Kulda)
Scheifele > Antropov
Frolik > Burmistrov (at defence anyways)
Seto >>> Miettenen
Halischuk ? Wellwood

Looks like we're in for a better season to me.

I'd call Frolik = Burmistrov right now. And defensively? Wasn't Burmi one of the best defensive forwards through the last two seasons? ;)

Total agreement on Trouba. He just gets better and better with each passing game. In my books he has already moved into the top 5. This kid has top pairing written all over him one day.

Better or not, they bring a different energy that might suit the system better. That 2nd period is hopefully a harbinger of what to expect.

Burmi was good, but I think Frolik definitely has better defensive awareness. Burmi was more shifty so he could get the puck away, but I recall him missing his poke check and getting burnt, I don't see that as often with Frolik.

Burmi was vastly overrated by the fans IMO. I don't notice hes gone, nor do I care. Because to me, sounds like he was just a cancer and complainer anyways.

That was the best period the Jets have played this season by a fairly large margin.

Please carry it through the third.

I don't know if its due to that last pp but the d lines were mixed up. Buff/trouba, pardy/Stuart, clitsome/postma.

I have to add I think this team is much improved. A lot of the things I would complain about are gone. Scheif also seems to be dominating on faceoffs, not just winning them but winning clean.

Thats true. But Burmi broke up a lot of plays, too. Something I haven't much noticed from Frolik during the 3 games I saw.

Well, they spent the 2nd intermission still ripping on the Jets, but it's their job to do so, I suppose. Their points are all valid.

at least they're talking about us!

I do disagree with what seems a main stream consensus regarding Minnesota, Nashville, Colorado and Dallas - they aren't very strong teams at all

As distasteful as it sounds I really hope the Rangers light it up this season.... And the Canucks tank.

Trouba has definitely looked good and has made a lot of strides since the prospects tournament. Right now he looks like a much better choice then Postma, Redmond, Pardy, and Stuart. But like someone pointed out, let's not get too excited just yet. This is still pre-season and the Bruins aren't exactly throwing out an elite lineup. If he keeps it up though, he'll be starting on the bottom pairing opening night.
