Dan Cleary was close to being considered a bust and on his way back to Newfoundland, but during the lock-out he went to Sweden to play, then went to Detroit, all of a sudden at 26 he started listening to Babcock, got into the whole Red Wing mystique thing with Shanny, Chelios, Lids Datsyuk and Zetts, got serious about his health, his life and turning his game around. Basically he became a 200 foot player with a big motor and was an excellent 2nd line guy.
maybe Button is saying that the Leafs, the solid atmosphere here, the veteran leadership may be the thing that finally get's Galchenyuk attention and carves out a niche for himself where he's not expected to be "the star." Both players are first rounders and both players were thought to be the new blood to become leaders in the room and help turnaround the teams fortunes.
