He really needs this badly, I hope for his sake he finds all the success in the world. If he discovers his game he should resign on decent contract. He will never get another opportunity like this. I know let’s not get ahead of ourselves but would be great to see him hit 30 again.

I hope he hits 30 again. That'd be great for him, even if it's with the Leafs .

Almost certainly not. It would need to be Engvall or a combination of Spezza and Thornton

I think Galchenyuk's skillset (offensively inclined with questionable defence) would fare far better on the wing than it would at centre. Putting him at centre would also be changing what that line is and its utilization (much less likely to be able to be a matchup or shutdown line).

Man Galchenyuk should be on one of the PP units. His game would work well with someone feeding him the puck for shots on his strong side. He's a sniper when he is feeling it.

I'd take hyman off the PP2, put him in Joe's spot in PP1 (drop Joe from the PP for now), and then drop JT to the net-front where he has been pretty good, and have Spezza play the bumper, with Brodie, and Nylander looking to feed AG pucks to shoot to either beat goalie clean, or for tips from Spezza/JT

Agreed that if they're really giving Galchenyuk a chance and look in the top 6 its a waste not to have him on the powerplay. He's a bit of a PP specialist & legitimately good there. Has a great onetime shot.

Think they should have him on his off wing for one-timers. He'd be a legitimate asset on our Power play.

True but if Kerfoot is moved for a winger, Hyman and Soup could provide the help on D if they make him the #3C. Of course he needs to show something on the wing sooner than later.

Dan Cleary was close to being considered a bust and on his way back to Newfoundland, but during the lock-out he went to Sweden to play, then went to Detroit, all of a sudden at 26 he started listening to Babcock, got into the whole Red Wing mystique thing with Shanny, Chelios, Lids Datsyuk and Zetts, got serious about his health, his life and turning his game around. Basically he became a 200 foot player with a big motor and was an excellent 2nd line guy.

maybe Button is saying that the Leafs, the solid atmosphere here, the veteran leadership may be the thing that finally get's Galchenyuk attention and carves out a niche for himself where he's not expected to be "the star." Both players are first rounders and both players were thought to be the new blood to become leaders in the room and help turnaround the teams fortunes.

Yeah I get the reclamation of a former top prospect part sure.

But stylewise they're nothing alike and will never be, imo.

I guess we could hope for a Ryan Strome type rebirth maybe.

Though maybe we should hope Tavares can do with Galy what he did with Okposo.

Yes but he's a free agent at the end of this season. Leafs would have to resign him.
