8 points in 6 games with the Marlies, Galchenyuk definitely deserves a legitimate shot.

Would rather keep trying barabanov. Give him those 2nd line minutes. He has 5 points in 2 games w the Marlies.

We know what we have long term in galch, not so much with barabanov.

We don't actually know what we have with Galch though.

Got to admit it , I never thought about that notion .I certainly think its worth a try, I think your on to something ..
On a related thought ..
I would like to see WN really given a shot at centre , don’t know why other than it might work !

Imagine for a minute a scenario where the following trade actually happens... and I'm not really saying this, to discuss the merits of a trade, or the value.

But Rielly, Kerfoot, and whatever futures are necessary, for Ekholm, Forsberg and Granlund (Forsberg and Granlund at 50%) Cap hit is even.

Then running something like

xxx Matthews Marner
Forsberg Tavares xxx
xxx Nylander Granlund

Or switch Forsberg and Granlund up. You've got Hyman, Thornton, Mikheyev, Robertson, Galchenyuk, Simmonds to somehow fill those three spots. To me that would be pretty formidable, having three lines roll out like that.

Yes, it would cost a ton in picks, and prospects... But it sure would be an interesting lineup to roll out.

Bunch of dreamers. The guy isn't 22 anymore. He's 27 and an 8 year NHL vet who was waived by the worst team in hockey.
Lol, "dreamers". I'm not expecting ppg pace, but it's entirely in the realm of possibility that he can be a 40-50 point guy like he was literally 2 seasons ago.

And for the record, Barabanov is also 27(2 months shy) and has been given an opportunity this season already.
Surely Galchenyuk can do better than 0 points in 11 games.

I like it all , but have to have Hyman and Hyman like X’s there to balance those dynamic duos

In any team sport, you have to put a player in a position where they can succeed. Galchenyuk isn't a bottom six guy, and needs the right players to succeed with. He didn't get that in Ottawa. I'm not saying it will work here, I'm sceptical too, but it was obvious he wasn't going to work there.

If we do trade Kerfoot for a LWer, would Gally be a viable option to play #3C with Hyman and Soup ?

I think he needs people who are more skilled than him, to bring out the best in him. If Galchenyuk provides anything viable, and we bring in another top six winger, I might suggest that dropping Nylander down as a 3C, would be the more dangerous and viable option.

Barabanov wasn't given an opportunity of 11 games. He was given an avg of about 6 min/gm on the 4th line for the first 7 games. He had 2 shots. The final 4 games he was given about 11.5 min/gm and managed 9 shots. Also, he's a rookie in the league.

And getting 40 points playing with tavares/nylander isn't some great fete. Johnsson has gone from a guy pacing 44 points a game over his first 2 seasons (Toronto) to a guy pacing about 20 points (new Jersey).

So at this point can we all but assume Campbell is ready to go for one of the games this weekend?

Same lines today in practice as yesterday, btw.

The narrative would be a reclamation, former high draft pick and big time scorer and wash out who joins a team with championship aspirations and becomes a jack of all trades contributor. But we have to see it on the ice. Could just be Boyd Devereaux too.

Probably not as good as Jimmy Vesey

Man Galchenyuk should be on one of the PP units. His game would work well with someone feeding him the puck for shots on his strong side. He's a sniper when he is feeling it.

I'd take hyman off the PP2, put him in Joe's spot in PP1 (drop Joe from the PP for now), and then drop JT to the net-front where he has been pretty good, and have Spezza play the bumper, with Brodie, and Nylander looking to feed AG pucks to shoot to either beat goalie clean, or for tips from Spezza/JT

I think a sucka like that gotta earn it hard sire. Just like Kapanen did with the penguins right now as we speaks. With us, Kappy didn't play that thang almost at all. Not the most smartest human being he is sire. But right now, he scoring from left to right sire, so he playing with crosby on the first PP unit with them. Thinnk about it sire. Now galcheniuk, he hasn't done dirt. Not with anybody. He gotta show us he got the gunz and blaze, and if it ain't, he gon stay OUT. For life sire.

PLAYOFFS
Wayner Matty Mitch
Foligno JT Willy
Mik Engval Zach (pretty big 3rd line with speed)
Thornton Spezz Anderson/trade (don't play much) (thorton gets shifts on top lie too)

Kerfoot traded for pick/low AAV 4th line big and fast winger to get CAP space to get Foligno for a 2021 1st rounder
