Trochek has been one of the Rangers best and most consistent players this season. He's not regressing yet.

Got ya on the age. None the less... both are very young and early in their careers.

Buffalo has too many LHD, even if some play offhand.

I suspect Buffalo's brass are really frustrated that Mattias Samuelsson (RHD) has been one of their worst players this season. He'd been more effective in prior years.

Samuelsson LD, he is left-handed and he often gets injured. There are currently four left-handed players in our top 4, and it seems like no other team in the NHL has that.

Thanks for pointing out Power is not a negative asset. Is that to imply he has a very low value? Why even write that?

You are looking at Lafreniere and probably a 1st for Power


Byram is struggling?

I didn't think he was in my couple viewings, but i read sabres fans saying that and i've only watched a few of their games.
My point was I don't see them as trading partners, the byram/miller thing was just spitballing something that would maybe make sense, but clearly my initial instincts were right, it doesn't.

Fox isn't realistic... nor is LaF.

Braden Schneider is the guy they need most. He's a big R shot defender that brings better balance to Buffalo's D core. Also younger than Byram. Same age as Power.

Trochek is a good player and the NYRs sitting on the 11th overall pick in the 2025 draft today. I didn't make some weak proposal. I made the Rangers put good assets on the table for Power.

And Power isn't having a banner season.

Anyone saying that Trochek is "too old" or "not what the Sabres need" is kind of missing the point. He's one of those borderline 1/2Cs who is signed to a reasonable deal and should age mostly well......it's not like we're squeezed for the cap room. Either he OR Tage would get weaker matchups than what they're seeing now, and it'd allow Cozens to bump to the wing or to 3C until he figures out this whole center thing.

Schneider is that defense-first RHD that most of the Sabrehood have been BEGGING for.

That said.....even including that lotto-protected 1st, this still seems like a light package for a former #1 overall pick who's very good offensively and developing defensively.

Yeah, I think those pieces would be useful, but I don’t think you even entertain trading Power unless you’re getting a similarly elite talent back.
