The biggest issue is he has the control, right? Iirc he was only willing to re-sign with Chicago and Dallas before the BJs traded him.
he does yeah, just doesn't strike me as a guy that wants to be here at all, he was sort of rug pulled

We will see, but don’t forget he has a NMC for the full contract. Wasn’t he rumored to only be considering Chicago, Dallas, and another city or two?

Given how Dallas is built they won’t be an option at any point during his contract.
yeah Dallas and here, Colorado too iirc...but that list could expand quickly if he sees this thing is still awhile away and he has the option to move right then and there, his list might be a lot more vs when he showed up

I’d be trying to sell him on a trade to the Canucks or the Rangers.

Both of those teams in such shit situations right now maybe they go for it too.

Or what about the Islanders and around Barzal?

He half asses so many shifts I don’t see him as a guy who is dying to get on a contender. He got paid and is happy as is, is how I view him.

can never write off Nashville either, drafted there and they're always looking to compete, southish relative to here, but yeah there should be a dozen options for him at a certain price, 6m per for 4 years and his market probably opens up a lot

Kaliyev on waivers. Has not done anything worth anything in NHL but I claim him just for scoring pedigree and see what happens.

For sure. I see him as a guy that is going through the motions until his contract is movable. He got paid by the old regime who was fired and the new regime tore it to the ground and really doesn't want to compete or care about his window as a player, he's here until his contract is digestible to the league and once that happens he will be gone imo. Right now he can't do anything, not like he can go to KD and say I want out, if the trade market for him involves the Hawks paying top assets to move him they say wait a few years and we'll do it when it makes sense to us, can't imagine that time is now or any time recently but it could be here in the next year or two, if he was on the market now there would be some team that would give him 6m per for 4-5 years and thats where he could easily be at with retained money in a year, and his nmc is gone once its waived so for the team acquiring him they don't even have to keep him the duration of the deal from the time they acquire him, could be a 2-3 year rental for them

Kurashev blows, Hawks should claim Kaliyev and waive Kurashev sending him to Rockford (No one probably wants him)

At this point Hawks should look to move on from Reichel as well since forcing him into 4C role has been dumb and they dont appear to have any desire to give him a top 9 W look

Kane was excellent on the walls, very hard to knock off the puck. He didn't engage in contact, but contact didn't keep him off the puck the way it does with many softer forwards.

He also proved time, and time, and time again that he could rip seams through the best defenses the NHL had to offer during the toughest games. When I think of "soft" it's not just about hits, it's about how easy a player is to shut down. Guys like Marner are easy to take off their game even when they have better players around them.
Agree on EP, disagree on Marner.

I’m not sure I want the hawks to try to get him but while he doesn’t deliver hits he plays an all around game and even plays the PK.

Id be patient with Reichel. I think as the roster fills in he may fit in nicely.

I was never a big fan of Kurashev, they could release him for all I care.

Haven't checked the CBA rules since they changed that rule (Subban situation) where he was dealt before his trade protection activated, thus he lost it upon the deal to Nash. CBA now allows that to be enforceable when the time for it to become activated.

With trade protection/movement, the old rule said that when you waive a team doesn't need to honour it, but players who agree to waive it will normally only do so if the acquiring team will honour the protection, which they normally do.
