assuming there was some previous mention of a rumor from him i heard on the CBJ broadcast but i couldn't find it. apparently rimjob rimmer was skulking around bowels of the arena tonight telling people that he'd heard from seravali that rantanen would extend if traded to FLA.

this makes me nervous. would have to be tempting zito but i think we're rounding into form right now and we have plenty of star power. like, we know we have the guns because we've done it. some big pieces would have to be going the other way and that could dramatically change things.

Acquiring Rantanen, as tantalizing as it is, really screams of the kind of move that "messes with the mojo" of the team. I can't see the trade happening without Bennett or Verhaeghe going the other way and I just don't know why they'd do that especially considering Rantanen wants a TON of money from the sounds of it.

I don't even know who we could give up that would work in a trade for Rantanen unless Carolina is just throwing in the towel on the season at this point. And then, I'd be worried about the ramifications for the locker room and team chemistry.

Total pipe dream. The roster this team has is good enough to make a run for another Cup, assuming Bob and the D stay healthy. If a cheap upgrade for Schmidt can be found, that's where the team should be looking.
