The fear of Q and this perceived notion that he carries too much baggage for the media to handle is way overblown.

You wouldn't hear a peep about his past transgressions beyond training camp, let's be real here. FFS, MLSE owns half of the sports media in this country - any persistence to beat a dead horse by the media would be shut down pretty quick.

I think you're way off here. Like waaaaaaay off.

I think if they can change the core they'd consider keeping Keefe which don't ask me why.... But is the feeling i get
I can't see anyway he survives, he's the easiest to remove. They need to throw something to the fans for the disappointment, shut them up for a bit.
We'll know soon enough.

IMO they delayed the media conference by a day to give them the extra time to get a new coach in place.

I think we'll know who it is by Friday.

I'm sorry to be that person, but I have an eerie feeling that very few changes are going to occur.

I will be so happy if I'm wrong...

Keefe will be gone, I expect an announcement later today (Not based on anything specific except MLSE/Shanahan/Pelley won't leave him hanging for any longer than needed).

Highly doubt they'll have a new coach in place this week. The decision to fire Keefe will have been made in the last couple of days and so it's highly unlikely they've interviewed anyone yet (at least w/o the media hearing of it).

As soon as the announcement on Keefe is made expect names to surface almost instantly along with word about interviews, etc.

However, I highly doubt they're bringing in Berube or anyone else without doing their due diligence & interviewing a few people first. I expect the "new" MLSE under Pelley wants to get everything they right, and so this hire will be taken very seriously and with no strict timeline.

GMs interview coaches all the time prior to firing the current one. Maybe Berube was interviewed a week ago after the game 4 disaster and the decision already made once we were out.

The danger of waiting is that the candidates who are available now may be gone and Brind'amour probably ends up staying anyways.

I don't know about you but I don't want to be stuck with Guy Boucher.
It better not come to that, the entire staff should be shown the door.
You don't think candidates will want to keep themselves available to come here?
I get it though, you could miss out by waiting or you could miss out by not waiting.

I agree. Boucher was just me throwing out an example of someone I don't want. I should have chosen someone not currently here as a better example. DJ Smith or something like that.

I'd cut ties immediately, it's the fair thing to do with Keefe but I'd wait until after the playoffs before bringing someone new in.
I don't see the urgency there.
If they know who they want, I don't see the point in waiting either

You might not be wrong.
There seems to be 2 constants here.
What happens in the playoffs and what happens after. Both are always the same.

Brind’amour isn’t going anywhere, and even if he was, why would he choose Toronto over any other city?

You don't see value in knowing that all options are explored?
Not if they like a candidate now and are comfortable.

Waiting could lose options as easily as acquire and it's not like coaching is a perfect science.

Yes, you could lose options or gain options. It seems to be the safer play, IMO.

Surprised Ottawa didnt at least wait to see what else falls before signing Green

I think everyone knows this is it for coaching changes. There isn't going to be a bombshell change somewhere else. What you see is what you can get. They want an experienced guy and he's probably cheap enough to fit their budget.

I think it's the opposite - they are going to basically buy themselves time, inform everyone that they need to take a step back and evaluate everything, and then make informed decisions without any emotion attached to it.

It will be code essentially for "we are running it back", and they've moved it to a Friday to hopefully give it a bit of a "news dump" feel that gets lost over the weekend.

This is the Leafs, there is no news dump with them.

GTA or the UK
Berube won a cup, but still has a losing record in the playoffs. That doesn't really excite me as a potential coaching candidate.

Frank Seravalli just said that he doesn't expect Berube to remain on the market long enough for the Leafs to make moves. Thinks Devils will try and scoop him up before the end of the week.

At a minimum they should wait until Carolina is out to see what's up with Brindamour.
i think the debate is do you risk losing Berube to wait on Brindamour.

I fully expect the Friday press conference, which does not have Sheldon in attendance, will be either post-announcement that he is out, or they'll do it then. Which is of course perfect since the team finally played 3 games the way they should, instead of focusing on possession for possession's sake, but this is Toronto after all.

for the record, I would move on from Sheldon now.
