Savoie-Elite skating, hands and IQ with a high motor but still needs some rounding out for his 200 foot game although much better than his brothers. Shot has a quick release and accurate but needs a little more power behind it to be elite. Size can be a issue when battling along the boards or trying to get net front, does try consistently though. Comp-Gaudreau
Geekie-Kinda like Dach skating issues are overblown as he gets around well and uses his body to be a puck possession machine. Hands are really good and has a high IQ. Is a little inconsistent at this point but when on is very tough to contain and doesn’t have inflated numbers due to PP points. Would likely be better off on a team where he’s the guy but Ice are loaded so kinda plays his current role. Will be better off on a slower path but major upside and has plenty of confidence in himself. Comp-E Staal
Mateychuk-Most underrated prospect in the draft imo. Elite skater who loves to activate and become a 4th forward. Dangerous shot and super high IQ player who likes to find the soft spots in the zone or jump up for a backdoor chance. Really good at reading the forecheck and getting the puck out of his zone. Can be a tad over aggressive at times which gets him in trouble a bit but part of his game. Overall solid defensively with a few easily fixed warts to iron out. Massive potential and plays with swagger. Comp-Byram
Lindgren-Very raw but toolsy prospect. Great skater mainly his edges but has a good top end speed. Great puck mover and makes the correct reads the majority of the time. Doesn’t shoot as much as I’d like but shot isnt a muffin either so hopefully increases his volume as he gets experience. Not super physical but will take a hit to make a play. Long path with AHL time ahead of him but could pay off big time. Comp-Toews
Pickering-Definitely a late bloomer but has come a long ways and made good progress from the start of this year. Doesn’t have super high end puck skills but will make the simple and effective plays for you with the odd highlight reel move. Big kid who will lay the body at times and uses his long reach to keep players wide and deflect shots. Another raw player who’ll need a longer path but potential to be a top 4 minute eater. Comp-Graves
Brennan-Weak goalie class but Brennan is underrated by most simply because of his numbers. Had a very young team in front of him who went through growing pains and the odd bad game to knock his SV% down, dominant playoffs. Big goalie who is very athletic and cuts angles down well. Will make jaw dropping saves routinely and has the ability to steal games for his team. Tough to project goalies but has starting upside and should be the starter for Canada at the next WJCs. Late bday so only one more year until he’s in the AHL. Comp-Gibson
Schaefer-Another later bloomer Schaefer came out of relatively no where to become a potential first rounder. Is a very well rounder player who does everything well but nothing is quite elite from a skills standpoint. Bull in a china shop mentality who makes life hell on the opposing players, especially on the forecheck. More of a shooting mentality but has good hands/vision. Safe bet to be a role player but chance he could become a top 6er if his progress continues. Comp-Lee
Firkus-10 years ago I’d say there was no chance he’d ever make it but in todays NHL...at least in the regular season think he’ll be able to find a scoring role somewhere. High IQ and puck skills with a deceptive release that sneaks up on goalies. Can pull off the highlight reel moves consistently in juniors...we’ll see if he can as he moves up levels. Very slight player who always battles hard but will get outmuscled consistently. Defensive game needs a lot of work and is a very boom bust type. Comp-Merkley
Gustafson-Very good 200 foot player who takes care of his own end first and takes on the tough assignments. Well rounded skillset who has no weaknesses but will likely never be a high scorer in the pros. Not a huge player but battles hard and has some pest to his game, great at drawing calls against to get his team Pps. Swiss army knife who should be a coaches dream and very important role player. Comp-Danault
Korchinski-Probably the most polarizing prospect in the WHL this year depending on what you value in a defenseman. Good skater especially his edges that he uses to walk the line well and try to find shooting lanes for tips. When he has time is very good at making effective passes and reading plays. Has good size but rather lean and constantly loses battles when he does engage. Passive in his own zone and afraid of contact mostly. Aggressively moves the puck which almost always results in a scoring chance but never know for which team. Shot needs more power on it which should come in time. Very effective PP QB who in the right situation should put up around .5 PPG but will need to be sheltered. Comp-Hughes/Butcher hybrid
