I mean honestly i still wonder why CAR traded for Skjei, he was a heavy turnover machine in NYR too. He has his occasional good plays though, i'm still skeptic he's a good fit for CAR.

Dougie being out had a lot to do with it.

He’s fumbly with the puck. Especially defensively, offensively he can use his skating to be in dangerous positions. He’s a high level skater who plays hot potato with the puck in his own end.

That was 76 not 86 with the huge whiff leading to the goal.

TT handed the puck over at the offensive blue line. Skjei's stick lift prevented the first easy goal after Edmundson couldn't block the pass. Teravainen was the one who got blew past on the goal, didn't do much of anything.

I just started watching after some technical difficulties so maybe it was the first decent play he made.

post draft, the off-season through the TD was really bad. Skjei trade is just making it worse.

I'm just glad Faulk wasn't given an extension. Eddie is off the books this off-season whenever that is.

On the flip side Vatanen already looks like he fits in, is calm and intelligent with the puck. I could see his size and offensive leaning leading to occasional gaffes but it would be unsurprising if he’s a easier fit than Skjei.

He’s potentially the righty version of what we wanted Jake to be, and probably better.
