Post-season NYR report card

You all just wanted too much from Brad, Gabby and Nash.
Really all you should get F for making so high expectations from never knowing what this team can actually do.

I daresay expecting more than 1G in the playoffs is not too much for a player like Nash. And Richards ending as a healthy scratch isn't exactly what I was hoping for either.

If you're just talking about regular season, then yes, I'd say Nash met expectations (but by no means exceeded them) while Richards was slightly below par (putrid start, decent end).

But the playoffs are at least as important as the regular season, and there both failed. I don't see how you could even argue that.

Glen Sather is getting a lot of decent grades...

The trade with Columbus involving Gaborik was a pretty good one. We received depth. But our struggles was because we lost that depth when we traded for Nash which made him sign players to fill in those holes. Hindsight's 20/20, but I wouldn't have done that Nash trade again if I could.

Sather's overall grade is a C-/D+. Too much turnover.

Everybody thought that this is it. Nash to become top point getter in league, Gaborik goal scorer and Richards best playmaker. If we look back before season started, thats what everybody expected. That is where everybody started to go to hell in this season.
Yes playoffs came and they struggled but did they have enough support? They were dominated by Bruins, not Richards and Nash, but the whole team except King. And Caps were the better team too if wasnt for Lundqvist so this Richards, Nash blame cant go too far. This is the first season for Nash here and I guess that 4 game sweep from Detroit when he was with CBJ didnt help a lot. Experience here played a factor too for Nash.
For Richards it was just asking too much of him. Tortorella asking. He is not that defensive player that Torts wants everyone to be.
Buy him out and he will be close to PPG next season with another team.

Brassard had no problems adapting, even without any prior playoff experience at all! Nash isn't a rookie who can get a pass for his first season, he is a veteran the player with the highest cap hit, we payed a high price for him and thus we can expect him to score more than one goal in 12 playoff games. And I can't hear that talk about "tough matchups", "tough opponents" or whatever anymore. That's just excuses. A player with a 7.5 million cap hit is expected to go up against the best players and still produce. He didn't do that, so he failed to meet expectations in the playoffs.

I'm only going to go over the key players on the team. This is based both on player expectations, regular season performance and post season performance.
