Funny how the game turned around. Had Canada managed to score a goal in the first period, I think the result would be very different.

Laine with a lot of rookie mistakes today, which was totally expected, I guess.

Apart from that scoring part, I guess? And the goaltending part... And how many real good opportunities they had actually? I actually thought that Finland was the better team. Anyway, Canada doesn't have too bad route to the final though - I'm bit afraid of Russia in the semis...

Well let me explain.

Way more of the game was spent in the Finnish zone, that's indisputable. Finland's strategy was basically to turtle in their zone and collapse their players down low to prevent goals from inside the hash marks. They gave Canada's dmen free reign up top for the most part, didn't pressure them at all, but Canada wasn't able to get enough shots through from the point. Koskinen played well also which helped. Then when it came to offense they couldn't sustain pressure most of the time. Three of their four goals were on the rush, and three of the four goals were badly handled by Talbot. I think under normal circumstances this would've been a 1-0 or 2-0 win by Finland, so I still give them a lot of credit, but I still think Canada controlled the play much more often than Finland did, the Finns just did a good job of capitalizing on the rush. They actually reminded me a lot of Randy Carlyle's system with the Leafs.

Best Finns today

Koskinen
Koskiranta
Pyörälä
Aho
Komarov

Laine does too many rookie mistakes, but that's what rookies do, unless you are Sebastian Aho

Canada is my second favorite team after Finland. And I have to admit, with anybody else in goal, this would have been 0-1. The shots were even, Canada had the better scoring chances, but the numbers were ugly.

Could have been Talbot or just bad luck. Sometimes you have those games. And it's not like Finland has been more impressive team before this game either.

Laine was impressive, even so that he and Barkov were the guys who got most "special attention". Jokinen had an off game today more so than Laine/Barkov.

so, Canada has the easier way to Final ?

vs Sweden
vs Winner of Czech/ USA

Looks like that! so the master mind behinde this 4-0 lose against Finland must be the goalkeeper in team Canada:naughty:!

But like somone said i prefer to get kicked out by Canada instead of Finland:D

Grand architect Talbot steering Canada onto the easiest route to the finals.

Seriously though, congrats to Finland on the deserved win. We'll get ya next time. ;)

Haha, what a game! Suckbot was way poorer than the Ukranian goalkeeper and Perry showed some classy captainship by kicking Laine.

Perhaps Denmark will give team Finland some challenge.

Finns were clearly the best team today. Full marks on the win.

I'm quite happy with the result and how the playoffs shape up for Canada:

The two brackets:

Canada v Sweden
USA v Czech

Russia v Germany
Finland v Denmark

I'll take Sweden, Czech/USA over Russia thank you very much

BobAndy17 you keep saying you hate this tournament, but you keep posting posts after posts, come on it's time for you to come out of the closet and tell the world that you love the WHC, there's no shame to admit BobAndy17

Agree fully.

I only add that Aho really impress by his ability to hold on puck in tight position and under tough 1on1 battle and his hockey IQ really underline words top end hockey IQ. Reminds so much of Saku Koivu. That 2nd round steal start to look even better to Carolina's fans perspective. I doubt there won't be any difference with who is going to play in NHL and Carolina, but Skinner or Lindbohm with him is going to be enjoy to watch.

But Canada does this too (turtling low), in tough games. It's hypocritical to criticize one team for defending smart percentage wize - when everyone does it. This isn't the 80's man.

Finland had a breakaway, multiple 2 on 1's, Barkov by himself got like 4 shots from the slot..

Hated to see how many ******* Canada had. Some of them didn't have any respect to their opposing team. Of course Marchand's a *********, Perry's a ********* (what the ****, disgusted that he's Canada's captain). And Taylor Hall too, what an idiot.
