It makes no sense why he isn't getting a chance with the big club. He was on fireIncredibly annoying that Kevin Smith got injured in an AAA game that he should not be playing in.
Well it's hard to make room on the 40 man when Breyvic Valera and Kirby Snead are such integral pieces. It makes no sense why he isn't getting a chance with the big club. He was on fire
He has a slightly higher ops then Cavan Biggio had in AAA at the same age (24) his bat looks ready. It makes no sense why he isn't getting a chance with the big club. He was on fire

They traded Joel Payamps for cash and they're worried about losing Kirby Snead for nothing. Amazing.
Yeah he's played games at 3B at least a few in July but mostly SS and In August so far only SS. I think it's like 80 % SS just scrolling through the box scoresI think Smith has played a handful of games at 3B so far this year, just from the games and lineup sheets I have seen.
Where can one find his starts at 3B vs. SS? I know it has been primarily SS though.
Soria just hit the 10 day I.L, Pearson is on the I.L but getting close.Romano has been pretty much poop since the sticky stuff crackdown.
Who's the next closer option? Soria? Hand? Pearson?
One of the more underrated aspects of those 2015/2016/2017 Jays teams was just how reliable and good Roberto Osuna was.
5th amongst relievers in WAR over that period after Aroldis Chapman, Kenley Jensen, Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances.
Soria just hit the 10 day I.L, Pearson is on the I.L but getting close.
It's looking like some combo of Hand, Romano, Cimber I think. Cimber has looked the best.
I cannot imagine them putting Manoah into the bullpen while keeping Matz and Stripling in the rotation, it just doesn't make sense. This isn't even an Aaron Sanchez situation either, Manoah has only pitched 65.1 innings this year.I believe after the second double header next week, the Jays will adjust their rotation back to 5 starters. One starter will need to be moved to bullpen. In my eyes it should be one of Matz or Manoah. Both power pitchers that can both be used for 1-2 innings with above average power.
Didn't realize how badly Romano has been shelled over his past 8 or so appearances. At this point, Cimber should be considered the best arm in the pen and should be put into the most important situations.

Putting Manoah in the pen would increase his velocity 2-3 ticks higher. He already tops out at 97 as a starter. Only reason to put him in the pen is for exactly that. The ability to strikeout batters and be able to go 2 innings.
Imagine Matz and Stripling give us a solid 5-6 innings in their starts to have Manoah piggy back them both in their spots in the rotation. It decreases the use of our bullpen for 2 turns in the rotation. Utilize bullpen to mop up Ryu, Berrios and Ray starts. I would do the same for Pearson when he's back. Pick 2 pitchers in the rotation where he is the next man up in their starts. It allows less bullpen arms to be used which is our weakness.
Matz pitches - Pearson follows (whether that is for 3-4 innings or 1-2 innings)
Stripling pitches- Manoah follows (whether that is for 3-4 innings or 1-2 innings)
Ryu pitches - Bullpen day (Cimber, Richards, Hand, Soria, Mayza, Romano, Dolis)
Ray pitches - Pearson follows (whether that is for 3-4 innings or 1-2 innings)
Berrios pitches - Bullpen day (Cimber, Richards, Hand, Soria, Mayza, Romano, Dolis)
I call this the REVERSE OPENER.
The Jays strength is the starting rotation. The depth they have there should be utilized to lessen burden on bullpen. Using Manoah and Pearson as the REVERSE OPENER not only shows batters a different look with harder stuff than the starters, but also gives the opportunity to control games longer prior to having to get to the bullpen.
We see this in the playoffs all the time when teams go to a 3 or 4 man rotation. Or a game 7 when teams make their ace available to pitch if it isnt there turn around to start that specific game. All hands on board type of thing.
In my eyes with the depth this rotation has. This is the route they should go.
part of the reason for the strength of the starting rotation has been manoah though, hes got the best numbers on our staff since he was brought up. putting him in the bullpen when he has no innings issues just takes one of biggest strengths and makes it worse.Putting Manoah in the pen would increase his velocity 2-3 ticks higher. He already tops out at 97 as a starter. Only reason to put him in the pen is for exactly that. The ability to strikeout batters and be able to go 2 innings.
