Post-Game Talk: Poor discipline and poor reffing is a bad combination

I thought McLellan was a bad coach? he's OWNING Woody right now
sorry but it's the truth

the refs are garbage but McLellan out-coaching Woody
So he is telling his team to get caved in for most of the series?

Does he have a magic wand making korpi wayy better than Skinner?

Maybe he is mind controlling the refs too with their double standards

Genius coach

I've never seen a goal called back on a high stick not directly involved in the goal. There's a lot to be upset about in regards to the reffing. I'm not too busted up about that high stick not being enough to overturn an OT GWG.
Ya , no point in having any rules if they don't result in a goal ... oh wait .. MVM..

After this series is over (and Gary hands this series to LA)... I don't give a f*** about NHL hockey.

This league isn't worth watching when it's all scripted and biased game management bs.
It hasn’t been worth watching for years. I’m admittedly often impressed when I see others in here watching games on off days.

I haven’t watched another team play a game in about 10 years. Bad league. I care about the oilers. Not about hockey.

The league has stacked the deck for California teams and the Kings in particular for the better part of the last 2 decades, no one should be surprised, they will get the benefit of the discretionary calls. We just have to be better and get more out of our support players, particularly our wingers.

My prediction is next game the refs will give us preferential treatment for one game to make it a little less obvious, right now the penalty called differential is +7 for the Kings on the series I'm guessing they won't want to go above +10 for the Kings cause then it will be a little too glaring.

7 game series for sure. But if you are struggling to win or score in games that you play well, what happens the moment you have an off night? If Oilers have a rough game 4 they probably get blown out.

Can this team win this series? Absolutely. But even if they do. They are absolutely not a cup contender. Their flaws are being exposed here pretty readily. Put a good goalie on their game in front of them and wait for them to take dumb penalties.

A big part of this is as the game goes on, our grinders minutes get cut when we need a greasy goal cause we aren’t scoring clean ones past the hot goalie.
Great game plan, just have a goalie put up a .930+ against the highest scoring team in the league, honestly how are you not a gm AND a coach in the league?

Penalties will even out a little bit and momentum in this series will flip on a dime. At some point those penalties at key times and early ot calls for the kings will start getting missed and the Oilers will take over. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Oilers come back from a 3 - 1 deficit and win a series, it’s a great storyline.

I would be shocked if the Oilers don’t lose in 5/6

Team took 2 penalties after the whistle and one more in the offensive zone in this game.

Debate the softness of them if you want but bottom line is this has got to stop at some point. It's the only reason this series isn't 3-0 Edmonton right now.
The other bottom line is that all 3 of these games on the scoreboard have been 1 goal games and close the entire time. The biggest lead for either club has been 2 goals.

People can get upset about all the other things, officiating etc. But the Oilers are NOT separating from the Kings on the scoreboard this season. Not at all. Last season the Oilers won games 2 and 3 by a collective dozen goals. Its not like that this season, and I don't think its going to be like that.

Korpisalo and Gavrikov adds for the Kings were helpful for their lineup. Korpisalo, my take, is he's a goalie that has top game when it matters and he's been a playoff ringer before, and he's doing it again. Its undeniably Korpisalo is being very good.

I'll point out one play as well. McD going right in on net looking for the tuck. Korpis in his crease but stands strong and puts McD on the ice. Not getting past. If that is Johnathon Quick its a goal. If Kings have Quick in net the Oilers are leading this series. It is what it is. Both team improved a lot at TDL. But Kings nabbed a better goalie which is the crucial position in playoff hockey. The Oilers don't have a #1.

This one is the one I keep mentioning. And they give drai a call lolll
Pos Neanderthal waste of skin referees

Yup, the same here, though there are a couple other teams that are secondary for me. When they suck, it's nothing doing.

I'll say that I'm actually compelled to watch tennis, soccer (tournaments), hell even baseball for players or teams I don't necessarily care much for. The NHL is literally the last reason I watch any team play. It's an absolute travesty of a league.

Oilers won't win this as they are calling out the refs (and in effect the league agenda).

League will insure Kings win because Hollywood needs to be in the playoffs (Ducks/Arizona/Sharks are all shit)... Kings are the only remaining hope. Have to keep that interest up in that region... don't want hockey becoming a 7th rate sport there instead of 6th rate where it is now.

Refs aren’t going to be consistent, they showed that right from game 1. Oilers can either adjust, or keep doing what their doing and hope they feel good about themselves for being “right” instead of being winners.

The refs are garbage, the call on Drai was a joke, as was the Ekholm cross check, and the dozens of missed calls against the kings, and that was 100% a high stick.

That said, the only consistent thing about them has been the inconsistency. Stop giving them the opportunity to call anything. I knew Kostin was getting a penalty as soon as we saw him staying down. The refs were absolutely begging for an oilers to give them a reason to make a call, and Kostin obliged.

It’s frustrating to think they basically have to sit and take it after every collision, scrum, and whistle, but they need to play like absolutely nothing is going to change how these refs are calling these games. Moral victories are for losers, and this team is way too f***ing far into the McDrai area to still be losers.

Impossible to win when the league is working against you. The NHL has turned into an America first league, they don't want any Canadian teams doing well, all they care about is the American dollar, and trying desperately to get Americans to watch even though all they care about in the states is Football and Basketball. A Canadian team hasn't won a cup in 30 years and I would bet my savings they wont win one for another 30 either.
