I voted that no, he will not be fired. Maybe his assistants will be, but I don't know how much was really his fault.

The only way I see him going is if Trotz is convinced to come to TO, which I don't know if he will, or if Hitchcock is fired when the Blues don't make it out of the first round.

I think he's gone. I can't see any possible way they bring him back. I've also seen nothing to suggest management has any confidence in him.

Paul MacLean for Ottawa was given the vote of confidence right away, they basically said he had a rough year and will do better next year. We've done nothing like that, our meeting was filled with "culture change", "leadership change", etc.

Basically i'd be very surprised to see him back next year.

I really like Randy, but I think his time in TO has come to an end. There's no way for us to actually know, but it looks like many of the players simply tuned him out or just didn't buy into his game. Hopefully some things that are a direct result of coaching (i.e. special teams) will be improved upon if the Leafs hire someone new.

I voted no. It looks like Carlyle is learning from his mistakes during his press conference on the way he has to adapt. The players are partly responsible to blame for this mess as well.

I would keep Carlyle to see if he can modify how he does things with a partial new group. Worst case scenario the team is bottom 8 again and the Maple Leafs have a shot at Connor McDavid or the Leafs make the playoffs. One of these two things will happen, so either way the Leafs win. :scared:

The more time passes, the more I lose hope. I think he's coming back.

Our team was horrible from top to bottom besides goaltending and 1st line. This isn't even a hard decision. It shouldn't take this long.

Indeed, it should have happened by now. I think the probability of him not returning is getting smaller and smaller as more time passes. If he's not fired by this time next week I think its likely they won't be getting rid of him.

well I don't think they're going to fire anyone during Easter.

I think they're going to fire him - they're just evaluating (and wanting to see who they target) maybe after some eliminations - ie: maybe the SJ coach is fired if SJ loses in the 1st round (so sayth the RumourMill).

or they are evaluating Dineen at the U18s etc.

I'm sure it took Dwayne Casey 3-4 years to get the Raptors to do well. Give him another year honestly, Leaf fans.

Thanks to Carlyle, for the past 14 games of the regular season I felt like this...

I'll try to give the short version of why he should be fired in my opinion... 1) His system of "collapsing" in their own end leaving the points open continuously...2) His system of having the forwards cheating and way ahead of the play when his defencemen have the puck even if they are under siege...If these weren't his systems then he allowed the team to play this way.Either way it's his responsibility... 3) His fanatical line matching which A) didn't allow a consistent forecheck and B) often caused poor breakouts at the other end when players were changing and not in position...I don't know if they had more too many men on the ice penalties than most but I could see this line changing causing that...4)His insistence of playing 3 lines throughout an 82 game schedule...5) His refusal to play younger players especially call-ups who showed they deserved at least a chance to see what they were capapble of...6) His inconsistency in dealing with players, continuing the trend of "blue and white disease"...you need consistency to gain respect from "the group" as he calls them...7) Throwing players under the bus with his subtle comments after games or even after the private player exit interviews after the season was over...I think I forgot a few and I'm sure some or all of these reasons can be disputed but it's how I saw it anyway...we need a younger team with a younger more progressive coach who coaches to win and not to "not lose"...and yes...that really was the "short version"...lol

I still think there's no way they don't fire him before next season. It's just a matter of Shanahan getting a look at things first.

Have no hope for this team if they don't make at least that change before next season. A lot of things they need to do, but that is one of them.

Pretty sure I feel more like the hyenas. Banished to the depths of terrible for eternity.

If Carlyle stays, we're probably going to acquire a two-way forward like Paul Stastny who can better play his game. Moreover, I am certain that he'd heavily rely upon Phaneuf ( as he did this season) and he'll want someone who can play a similar physical two-way game.

Not firing Carlyle would be a colossal mistake.

I'm sure its Easter they are waiting for. Wrong timing.

I think Carlyle will be fired and don't find this delay to be unexpected. This will be sold as a Shanahan decision and the optics have to support the illusion that a lot of thought and analysis went into the decision.

Can we get this sorted out and hire Trotz before somebody else does? Fire Randy already.
