My reasoning is to try and get more cracks at the cup, than just one or two. I have no issues going after rentals but it has to be for the right price.

Last year, we didn’t go too crazy and got some good depth players. Cost us two 4ths and a 2nd at the time that became a 1st since we made it to the ECF. We got a deep run with Copp, Motte, and Vatrano. No complaints here. Rather go that route than sending a lot of assets back for one rental player, even if they are a big name.

Whole heartedly agree with you @Leonardo87 . Do similar to last year, not handing out a 1st is essential. Adding the depth is what we need. Guys that are PO experienced and play a hard game, another d would be great.
That said, wouldnt be adverse to getting Motte OR Vatrano (need a shooter) and welcoming them back.
We don't NEED a high end type of guy. We should have enough talent, just gotta want it.

I've never been a fan of trading based on what other teams do. That's how the Poti trade happened back in the day.

Build the best team for long term success. Devils to me are still paper tigers until they win two rounds.

I think my ideal player on that list is Bertuzzi, who, when healthy, bring much of what Meier does but at a significantly lower cost.

Labanc makes a lot of sense as a middle six winger, though I don't feel very comfortable with him with this group and especially with Panarin. He's got his own tendencies to float and defer the hard work to his linemates too often, just imho.

Wildcard pick for me is Toews. Depending on thee cost, I think he could be a great fit with this group. If you think we have too many centers, I think we use him on a line with either Zibanejad or Chytil, moving either to the RW.

Voted for Chycrun and Gavrikov. Especially Gavrikov though. He's huge and only 27. Has much better offensive skills than what we presently have (Harper) but umsure if it would stifle Schneider's offensive game as Harper seems very reliable. Not sure if Gav would be equally reliable. Guess it comes down to "good decision making" on when to pinch.

Again, I say NO to any big splash (Meier) ENOUGH with putting that square peg, into a round hole. Reminds me of the Mets attempting to get Correa and playing him at 3rd. Thank God that didnt happen.

IF i'm giving up assets at the TDL, i would be targeting guys like Josh Leivo, Nick Seeler, and Eetu Luostarinen. Low cost reinforcements for our bottom 6 & bottom pairing that are above average defensively.

I like Seeler a lot and that contract is extremely valuable

We can't keep renting a RW every season at the deadline . Yes we have Kakko on the RW....and little else . The move going forward should be for a guy that we can afford the next couple of seasons until we have some cap flex hopefully .

If we trade Kravs/+ First Rounder 23 +Blais /Gautheir/?? AND maybe a 2nd to the Flyers for Konecny at 50% retained for 2 more seasons....he is almost a wash cap wise and roster wise . It won't be an even up cap situation....but it is much more workable and practical then Meier .

Big question is ....is it enough to make the Flyers listen to the ph call or hang up ? That could be 3 -4 new roster guys for the Flyers next season ....The above is a hodge podge of guys that likely would be needed to start trade talks ....maybe a giant [Rempe?] would need to be a throw in as it is the Flyers .....it is flexible and as so add or subtract as Konecny won't be cheap ......but cheaper all around than a Meier and we would have him for 2- 3 playoff runs before he is inked again .

A top 6 of Panarin-Laf-Zibs-Chytil-KK-Konecny and our third line could be Kreider -Tro-Gauthier & 4th line of Cuylee/Lesh/Othmann or Gaut -Blais depends on who is still around and note that is Goodrow GONE !

I know Kane is not popular at all but maybe we can get him on the cheap. The market can't be very strong and he's a right wing who can score fairly well( or has shown it in the past) Maybe if you could give Blais for Kane straight up I'd do that 100% of the time. Anything more and I'd probably pass.

It shouldn't be strong considering the league-wide crunch but the haul Horvat got, both trade and contract, is indicating that sellers are going to do just fine.
