Well that someone with more clout would have to be Katz but I doubt he did that.

I'll leave this point alone now but it seems to me that this is some more of that "buddy" stuff.
McDrai and maybe Schwartz may have more clout. I mean Schwartz has a permanent job it seems.

Who voted A, seriously?

It's a public pole. All you have to do is click it.

Either they felt that or their hands were tied by someone with more clout? If Stu shits the bed, Schwartz better be getting tf out the door this summer as well. Stu has a lot riding on this stretch drive and playoffs, if he sucks he will likely have to uproot his young family.
Didn't you hear Schwartz is "good in the room" and Skinner is too?

This isn't an NHL run club as much as its a 4H club...Lets play Donkey Kong and skip practice.

I like the additions because all the players they added can skate so they added a ton of speed. They also added a bunch of physicality which should help this team get emotionally invested come playoff time. McDavid, Drai and Hyman never have an issue getting physical when playoffs hit, but when you add Kane (hopefully), Frederic, Jones, and Pods to that mix in front of a rocking building this team should be capable of getting very physical.

Love Walman's shot from the point, and his skating is exceptional. Very good at evading attackers and skating himself out of trouble which is very important on forecheck heavy teams. And best of all he has the size unlike Hughes to survive a physical forecheck.

Don't love that we didn't add either a top 6 scorer or a goalie, but I can live with this as long as the boys get their game back on track in the last 20 games of the season.
Agree with this..
I guess we could keep adding in the offseason.. but it's a shame that another McDrai season will go to waste.

If we were okay with goalies we should've still added Carlo.

Ekholm-Bouchard
Walman-Carlo
Nurse-Kulak
Emberson

Looks solid well balanced D core good enough to shield shady goaltending

Pickard is a swell guy too. Maybe we need some assholes in there? That's why I wanted Binnington. That was if Nurse or Bouch screw the pooch on a play they're hearing about it.

Dallas Eakins was a shit coach, but the one thing I agreed with from him was when he said "look I'm not trying to get my future son in law here - we're trying to make a competitive hockey team - sometimes you need an ass hole that can score and keep the puck out of the net."

Florida loaded up so whatever teams face them will die. The Oilers are a special sort of feast to them. It would be over in 4 games they would just need to score 2 goals a game and coast to another cup if we faced them in the finals. Teams full of losers and we didn't move a single one for anyone who can WIN.

Z- Trade deadline, Oil management you are so pathetic it is actually a good thing to pity your whole lives.

Keep making money scamming this city and the NHL of a dynasty (all for PlayAlberta kickbacks no doubt).

WE could use Bill Ranford glaring right about now.

Skinner glares once in awhile but without a clue and while usually being at fault. I doubt actually he's good in the room. Its more that Schwartz and the org figure everybody loves him. Opponents do.

It's not a flashy deadline, but it's decent. Most people are upset they didn't get a goaltender, but that expectation should have been tempered months ago, they've been saying for a while they aren't changing the goaltenders this year. Disappointing yes, it's the wrong move, but they're doing what they said they were going to do.

It could be worse though, could be Carolina where they traded for a pending UFA who again has no interest in signing long term, and then have to apologize to the fanbase that they couldn't get anything done at the deadline because it took too long to offload the player who just rejected them. Imagine your lone deadline move is dumping your top scorer for picks and prospects in the middle of what you think is your cup window.

Hell, they even need goaltending too

Needs in goal, on defence, top six winger , and bottom six rh center. No cap space and no prospects. Managed to upgrade roster with 3 pieces. Grade A

You aren't allowed to speak positively here, even if your optimism is carried by fact. Supposedly this team is worse than the one that just took Florida to 7. It's going to be funny when guys like Skinner and Arvy are contributing in the playoffs, just like Connor Brown did last year.
Fact. I’d like to see them contribute in the regular season.

I voted a B, but it’s more of a B- or C+

I think we nabbed good adds, but other teams did better. We now need a lot of things to go right. But I also feel like McDavid has had an underwhelming season but is finally finding another gear, Kane - if he can get up to speed with the allotted 3 game AHL conditioning stint before the playoffs - will be a major addition to the lineup. What we need on top of that is goaltending to get hot at the right time. Huge ask, but it’s happened before.

Bottom line, some people are treating this like doom and gloom based on the moves the Avs and Stars made. But there is a very strong chance those teams play each other first round, so one of them isn’t getting past the first round. It’s not just about the roadblocks, but the path to get there. IF we can get past the Kings and Knights, we might face a very fatigued team in the WCF based on the bloodbath the Central is shaping up to be.

I definitely like our path. LA hardly did anything. If we win the division we probably play Minny, who also did nothing

I'm not sold on Vegas. They also didn't upgrade. So, the 3rd and 4th rounds will be the only truly tough test where we will be underdogs

Part of that is something I agreed with Bowman on. If our team plays to its potential then it is probably the best out there. We didn't truly need any upgrade other than in net. With the goalies, if we can get a similar performance as last year then we have a good chance. It's not about having the best goalies. It's about shrinking the importance of our deficit. If the whole team is rolling then we could win the cup

I have a different complaint.

The TDL showed what a mockery the salary cap is. Claim an injury to a top player and load up. It’s not about putting the best team together it’s about who gets lucky with the right injury to the right players at the right time.

Vegas Tampa and Chicago showed us how it’s done.

Devils lost the injury lottery with Hughes getting whacked for the season.

Panthers won the injury lottery with Tkachuk who will be back for Game 1 book it.

Dallas has Seguin out until Round 2 they say but won the injury lottery with Heiskanen who we will no doubt see Game 1.

Oilers tried to play the injury lotto with Kane but couldn’t figure out the rules until it was too late.

The NHL is an abject joke with the cap rules.

Connor Brown contributed. WTF low standards.

Connor Brown has scored around 10goals for the Oilers across 160GP and counting. What a contribution. lmao Expect nothing and never get disappointed.
