Also Dorion reports to Staios, and does not report directly to Andlauer. Staios is now Dorion's boss.

Very expected type of comment from Dorion.

Didn't he receive this kind of help he was on his knees begging for in McGuire...and then fired him?

Having a good boss (POHO) to insulate you from a bad boss (Melnyk) is a good thing. Why wouldn't Dorion have wanted that?

It's not a good thing if the good boss is a hockey guy who would recognize you are in over your head and recommend the bad boss fire you for your incompetence.

Dorion would not have lasted 6 years if there had been a POHO in place after Murray's passing.

I would call Staios a "supervisor" who will assess Dorion and make a decision on his retention soon.
I doubt it, especially with season starting, no GMs are leaving current teams at start of year, so only candidates would be unemployed ones, or Bowness maybe.

Why even have a GM in the first place? Just have the POHO micromanage everything.

So simple it hurts.

He's stepping in to determine whether Dorion should continue doing the job.

That's probably his first marching order from Andlauer. Assess the people. Who stays and who goes.

And hey, maybe in a couple weeks Steve Staios comes to a Dubas-like realization: that the best candidate for the GM role has been under his nose the whole time, and its Steve Staios.

Think of it like an adult watching their child run a lemonade stand.
I prefer to think of it as a new executive overseeing the work of one of the top 32 professionals in the world in their field.

But hey, you do you. I don't judge if lemonade stands is the extent of your experience when it comes to corporate structure.

With the right management pieces in place, and our core locked up, I have a really good feeling a cup is in the works in the next 3-5 years.
I think that the new improved management team with more changes to come will ensure this team becomes a perenial playoff team in the near future, possibly starting this coming season. Winning a Stanley Cup would be great and now looks more likely than it has in the last few years.

Yes. Sure. Positive but.... what was the likelihood the last few years
