Yeah and I can see how it could potentially be very cool for concerts too.
Basically this is mostly about NHL game presentation being too corny to use the best tools effectively.
It's not just a matter of corny, it's a matter of whether people come to games to watch the scoreboard or to watch the hockey game. I'm there to look at players on the ice. The scoreboard is not something I care that much about. Best case is that it plays highlights and neat video content during commercial and period breaks in high enough quality, otherwise I'm looking at my phone or talking to whoever I came with. Or peeing, or buying a beer. At a fundamental level, I am not there to watch a video screen. Have a good video screen to do the stuff it needs to do, but I don't need or want a video board to tell me to please clap, pretty please, the team sucks tonight. Doesn't matter how hip your video team is or how many moving parts the jumbotron has, I'm there to watch what happens on the sheet of ice.
