Team IIRC announces injuries within 1-1.5 weeks after season ends........so maybe this weekend or next week some time.

Maybe tomorrow if they ask him and he divulges it. He clearly could barely move laterally on his skates so clearly something is wrong there.

PLD was trash all year. If i didn't know better i would say he looked like an 18 yr old rookie.

a typical 18 yr old rookie... not like you know...

Agreed, in the end 50+ games doesn't trump roughly 240 games as far as ability goes........whatever it was this year the CBJ hot mess, being traded so young, multi injuries this year, new team, new coaches, COVID lock down, etc..........I'm giving him all next year before making any judgements on him. I'll give PLD one full year to do it...........if PLD plays bad all next year I'll be calling for him to be traded also.......but for now he gets one full normal year from me before judging which is much less then we gave Laine.

My expectation next year from PLD is 55+ points at centre, 5vs5 improved player.........If I see that I'm over the moon happy with him.

Pretty much where I'm at.

I'm not here to troll so ignore the name.

I am, or now "was" a big PLD fan and disappointed we didn't get him. He's got size, skating, decent hands and well....appears no heart. I thought he would turn it up and destroy our defense. He turned it up with CBJ and blew apart the Leafs. THAT was the PLD I feared.

Nothing. I don't get it. The playoffs is where on dials it up to max and he did...nothing.

How was his regular season after the trade?

2 weeks quarantine then got a groin injury and it never healed. I don't wanna say I know this as fact but... I know this as fact. His 2 week quarantine actually hurt him more than ppl realize. Ccame back and got a groin injury that wasn't able to heal.

I'll go on record saying he's hurt.

Look what happened game 1 this series after 9 days off.. Demelo hurt and guys seemingly struggled to find their legs. Now add 5 to that and a LBI.

Not surprising. His game is based on power and explosiveness and we didn't see that this year.

I can toy see how being unable to do anything for two weeks and then trying to play that hard powerfully game he plays could lead to a severe muscle pull.

Hopefully he heals up.quuckly and has a good summer rof training and shows everyone what he can do next season.

He came in and had to quarantine for 2 weeks, then he picked up an injury almost immediately. He has looked pretty bad for the most part all season but some of us believe he's still fighting something. You can kind of tell by the way he skates that he's not 100%.

He could barely skate laterally, he clearly had a pretty significant lower body Injury impacting his mobile.

How long until we can reasonably expect to hear an update about PLD?
From TNSE/Chevy, ummm...not dure on that one.
Elliot Friedmann mentiod on his last podcast that he got a call from a bluejackets player asking if he had any info regarding PLD health, because an injury was the only possible explanation for his play according to his former team mate.
Interesting hey? He sure hadn't looked
physically engaged very often. Yet every so often he was a real force and glimpses of his earlier years showing were prevalent. Hope he is fully healthy next season and brings alot more consistent high-end play. Or Jets are sunk on handling of Laine and losing out on trading him, while having lost out on developing Roslovic. What will the 3rd rounder for him after next season turn out to be?? Unknown. Chevy's seat could be getting kind of squeaky, wobbly and uncomfortable!

Many people seem to have short memories here.

When Logan Stanley had his rookie year for the Moose, he impressed and ultimately was the best defensemen on the team. The next season he took a step back due to injuries, and was widely considered a "bust"

This season, he recovered and has been the one pleasant surprise for the team. I am willing to bet the PLD finally smashes the top ceiling glass, and becomes an integral part of the organization in 2021-22.

This season was a outlier, due to injuries.

Handling of Laine? Were you in a coma from late January onwards? The Jets did everything they could do to help Laine, and boost his confidence. If there are any doubters, look at the way he was handled in Columbus. I can understand the frustration with PLD, but this "Laine would have won the Richard Trophy BS if he stayed a Jet" narrative has got to stop. Its an embarrassment to the forum.

As for Roslovic, the Jets have forward depth most teams would dream of, and he did nothing to prove he was a top 6 forward. The only mistake the Jets made, is not obtaining a better draft pick. I would have preferred if we were given at least a 2nd round pick.

Finally, Chevy is arguably one of the best GM's in the league. He turned a perennial loser, with no notable prospects, into a competitive team within 4 years. Before Chevy, the franchise went 12 years without a playoff victory. With Chevy, the Jets have made the playoffs 4 years, and won 3 playoff rounds in 10 seasons, which is more than the original Jets ever accomplished.

He was quite obviously hurt but sure pile on when Wheeler Connor and even Ehlers didn't do shit this series.

Ehlers at least looked good and tried to do a lot. But I agree that Dubois was obviously not the reason why the Jets did lose. For example Scheifele was much bigger reason for that. Though the primary reason is the same as it has been for so many years already, and he is standing behind the bench.

PLD was #1C in CBJ, yet even with the Jets missing their #1C, PLD only saw about 15 minutes of ice in a game that went to OT. I'm pretty sure he's been playing hurt, that would seem the most logical explanation. In any case he's been struggling, but even if it's not an injury it's pretty clear he can do way better. I've said it before but this is not the season to make far reaching conclusions about players. You gotta give these young guys at least one normal season. The bad thing is extending PLD would seem a bit risky currently, yet he could explode next season and then the contract could become very expensive.

Yeah when start to put it into perspective, especially compared to other small market teams. The Jets have done pretty well with this 10 year window. Better than a lot of teams have done in the same 10 year span. Heck we've even done more than some big market teams in this 10 years

We have PLD for one more season at an overpay of $6,650,000 ( $5,000,000 cap hit )

We have no choice but to hope and pray that he becomes the player we expect, because his value as a trade probably can't be lower right now.

Yeah it's not even worth it to entertain the idea of moving him right now. Just hope that he has a good summer off and gets himself into shape and comes into training camp with something to prove.

Yeah when you step back and look at it objectly. Given where he started, the market constraints he faces we have had some pretty solid success. 4 playoff appearances and 3 rounds won is pretty good. I want more but that is pretty solid and among the best succes of any Canadian team over that time period.

I mean the Hab's shut out Mitch Marner too. I'm definitely not looking to move PLD anytime soon.

Going to forget the last 4 games and remember the Dubois/Ehlers OT winner against the Oilers. That was sick.

Yeah really only the Habs have done markedly better. We've vastly outperformed the Leafs, Flames, Sens and Oil since joining the league. Vancouver had some early success but since the Sedins left they haven't really repeated it.

Agreed jorb, too early to give up on him. Not just because of the price to acquire but also because he's shown to be able to do it.

This is probably one of the most times I've been interested in finding out about the injuries.
