I'm still holding out some hope for next year but I thought he would at least be hitting and contributing physically and defensively. Though the entire team seems to have forgotten how to play defence and hit with any enthusiasm until we are down by 3 goals. You can tell both PLD and Stats arent at 100%. But still you have to put it all on the line when you get to the 2nd round and I haven't really seen that from anyone on this team in the last 2 games and some even the last 3 games.

If PLD cant get it going by next year I'm not sure what we do with him. Its almost more tempting to keep Copp and roll with him as a 2C and see if Seattle wants Dubois. But given our luck he probably breaks out there and makes us look stupid.

The significance of that date? That was 23 games ago... the last time PLD bent the twine.

If what we are seeing is the real PLD, and this is him going forward... then Chevy got taken to the cleaners.

He doesn't at all resemble the player he was in Columbus. He's clearly playing hurt so hopefully he can get whatever it is that is hampering him cleared up in the offseason and come back and look like that player from Columbus next year.

A really unfortunate situation for both PLD and Laine to acclimate to their new environments. I would give them both a pass until next fall. Hopefully life is back to normal by then.

I think he looked lost most of the year. He had Torts as his only NHL coach up til this year and I think he has PTSD. Played scared to make a mistake and now his confidence is shot. And we don’t have a head coach that can get him back on track.
Only good thing is, Chevy looks so bad from this trade he might do the unthinkable and fire Maurice to try and get him playing to level he’s supposed to be capable.

Why would he be scared to make a mistake? Torts isn't Maurice at all; here all you have to do is get on Maurice's buddy list and you're fine. I'm sure it doesn't take long to see that...

Sooner that he was used to Torts micromanaging motivation - there isn't much extrinsic motivation since your actual performance in games has almost nothing to do with playing time or opportunities - it seems to be all about 'how you practice'...

Yeah as bad as his playoffs have been hes not the only player struggling. If he still looks like this after a summer off and a full camp with the team then I'll start to get pretty worried. Next year is a big prove it year for him. Contract year, so its make or break time. Still unsure of how we go about that. His value is pretty low right now so we could probably lock him up relatively cheap this summer. But I'm guessing he wont entertain any talks of an extension until after the season. He will have a lot to prove next year.

That value isn't close for Eichel. "Here, take our scraps for one of the best centres in the league!" That said, we sold Laine for pennies on the dollar so maybe they'd be willing to do the same.

Dustin Penner actually managed to get injured while eating pancakes. That’s a bigger accomplishment than pretty much anyone on the Jets can claim.

Elliot Friedmann mentiod on his last podcast that he got a call from a bluejackets player asking if he had any info regarding PLD health, because an injury was the only possible explanation for his play according to his former team mate.

I think the situation in Columbus had alot more of a negative effect on him mentally than perceived.

2 weeks quarantine then got a groin injury and it never healed. I don't wanna say I know this as fact but... I know this as fact. His 2 week quarantine actually hurt him more than ppl realize. Ccame back and got a groin injury that wasn't able to heal.

I'll go on record saying he's hurt.

Agreed, in the end 50+ games doesn't trump roughly 240 games as far as ability goes........whatever it was this year the CBJ hot mess, being traded so young, multi injuries this year, new team, new coaches, COVID lock down, etc..........I'm giving him all next year before making any judgements on him. I'll give PLD one full year to do it...........if PLD plays bad all next year I'll be calling for him to be traded also.......but for now he gets one full normal year from me before judging which is much less then we gave Laine.

My expectation next year from PLD is 55+ points at centre, 5vs5 improved player.........If I see that I'm over the moon happy with him.
