If Montreal can Danault to the finals, the Kings can.
The odds are stacked against them, obviously.
And the PP needs to start working.

Montreal had Price on his A-game and although Quick has looked good the past two weeks I don't think it is Fair to expect that out of him. Also Weber was very dialed in.

That team lost it's #1C, #1D and #1G for this year

If the Kings had Doughty... and made a move for an LD, I'd say they have as good or a better shot as Montreal did.
Without those two things, a much lesser shot.

But I like running Kopitar-Danault at 1-2 center.

LA and Edmonton both probably feel like the have the best possible first round match. I would only feel better about LA's chances against Dallas. as far as western conference teams go

I know it's more complicated than this, but I love that Sutter is the best coach ever that we couldn't wait to get rid of lol
well I mean Sutter was just a hard ass that got players to over perform but coaches like that never last long term because in all professions, personalities like that wear thin quickly. I think sutter got a lot out of the team in the short term, but I don’t think he was a good coach. Just a good motivator.

There's no reason LA can't come out of the first two rounds.
Not saying they should be a favorite.
But Calgary, Edmonton and then Dallas/Nashville all have flaws.
Colorado and St. Louis seem like world beaters on the other side of the bracket.

I watched portions of the Nashville vs. Flames game last night. How can the soft Kings compete with these two teams...?

Calgary - Lucic, Gudbranson, Tkachuk, Zadarov, Ritchie
Nashville- Borowiecki, Jeannot, Trenin, Olivier, McCarron

Kings have...drum roll...Lemieux.

Edmonton has Nurse, Kassian, Kane.
Av's have Manson, MacDermid, Kubel and Helm can throw if they have to.

Really hope TM gives the kids some valuable playoff experience and doesn’t just ride the vets into an early exit.

The Pacific is so bad anything can happen. But this should definitely be considered an extremely valuable playoffs for a lot of prospects who seem to be in a precarious position in their development.

Agree with your post...except for the 'precarious' part, don't understand that.

Please lets do hollywood in the playoffs avatars again. All the other ones after them have been complete trash no offense but it was garbage. lets revitalize that theme again.
I don't know if I'd have time to work on them this year, but I might be able to find the original file(s) somewhere. Does HFBoards no longer allow gifs as avatars? It's been a while since I've been on here, but I don't see any animated avatars anymore.

RE: avatars, we should totally play up the fact that the new Cup logo looks like our logo.

I think you can do animated still but don’t feel obligated to.

Tell people you haven't moved on from 90's hockey without explicitly saying it.....

Toughness the way you are trying to use it, is completely phased out of the game.....with the exception of Tkachuk and Kane, you are bitching about 4th line players and 6th-7th dmen

I disagree. When Sutter arrived in the 2011-12 season he completely revamped the system the team was playing in midseason.

The forecheck became the dominant factor in the Kings' game. There were times teams couldn't even get across the red line against the Kings, because the gap control was so tight. Forwards were required to backcheck their asses off to make that happen, because they were in on the forecheck, and defensemen were required to stand up and stop giving up not just their own blue line, but the red line as well.

What we had before with Terry Murray was protecting the house, and playing hard from the dots to the boards in your own zone, and it showed, because the Kings under Murray spent far too much time in their own zone.

Sutter also didn't accept any BS and demanded buy in for every player. Some players didn't like it after a while? Boo f'ing Hoo.

Maybe I have terrible memory, wasn't a strong forecheck part of Terry Murrays system but the players didnt commit?

There's an argument to be made that if, and that's a HUGE IF, Sutter was willing to stay through a rebuild, which would've required getting rid of anyone who got tired of him, we should have gone that way. But here we are, back in the playoffs. So I digress. And I think we chose the less messy route tbh.

Ahhh.. wouldn't be a proper thread without this post from this poster.

They can’t take out Grundstrom for Lemieux, we haven’t seen good Lemieux in months and they finally have two guys with Byfield where he doesn’t look terrible. They need scoring from all 4 lines more than they need toughness. Edmonton isn’t going to be hooking it up in a series they have the advantage on paper, makes no sense.

Will be curious who they take out for Mikey, logic says JM but who knows, if it’s Spence it would be very disappointing.
