Will the Habs make the playoffs?

Détroit has by far the toughest remaining schedule of the bunch (actually toughest in the league at .583). This takes them out IMO.

Islanders, Flyers, Jackets, Rangers all top 10 (.555 to .573)

Habs have the easiest schedule of all teams with .542. Ottawa TB and Boston all in the same vicinity though (.543-.545)

This alone makes the 4 Atlantic teams except Detroit the favorites IMO.

Habs have more issues with bad teams than good ones most of the time so...

The everybody is winning but us edition :pullhair:

Strength of schedule is so overrated , it means nothing in a 82 game season cap parity league with different travels , back to backs , injuries.
It always works out this way yet somehow the strength of schedule always gets posted every season.
I blame the odds makers and betting.

Detroit & Montreal switch spots. They're now 10th. We're 11th due to DRW having more RWs.

It definitely helped that everyone lost, so we don't lose ground points wise.

TB lost 4-1 to Chicago.
Boston got absolutely trashed by Buffalo 7-2.
Canes shut-out Rags 4-0.

All of our next 4 games are winnable ones.

Minnesota is in Thursday. It's a back-to-back for them as they play Toronto Wednesday. There's no Kaprizov and they're only 4-6-0 in last 10.

Then 2 bottom 5 teams: Anaheim & SJS.
Then LAK, who seem to be losing to pretty much all Eastern team these days. They're only 4-5-1 in last 10.

We need a strong 4 game winning streak.

Don’t ignore NYI win. They are now 2 pts from us, with 1 game in hand.

Everyone lost today nice. Atlantic + WC is an absolute blood bath right now. Even islanders are back in it

I guess the rule or narrative is... if it can get tighter, it will!

Come on Pens and Sabres, join the race, why not?

It feels like we are desperately crawling towards the break for some reason.

We are resilient but fragile it appears.

It was too good to be true.. Demidov and Hage looking like gems while we get in the playoffs without them? Yeah, lets be happy the Habs rebounded and will continue to fight, while our latest 1st rounders show what they can do.

If Guhle is out for extended period of time, it's all joever.

Which is fine because we weren't going to make it anyways, just might make some decisions easier on who to sell at the deadline vs who they might have kept as own rentals.

We are a good team when we execute and are healthy, but the depth isn't there yet, but the depth is coming and Demidov will transform the offense to a greater degree than Hutson has.

Given how tight the standings are, especially in the east, it won't take much for us to slip down multiple positions. We're 13th last in the league now, but it could become 8th last in what might seem like the blink of an eye. It'll be hard to stay in the race without Guhle.

This might make the TDL decisions easier for HuGo, when it comes to guys like Armia, Savard and Dvorak.

I'd even add Evans to that list. I like him, but I don't think I 4x3.5-4M like him. Especially if we can use an asset we get for him to trade up for Desnoyers.

Not so long ago I said the more the merrier...
That was before we actually held down a Wild Card position now the sense is we are going the wrong way.

We need to stop the bleeding for sure or we are going to be faced with having to jump all those teams we jumped previously to get there. That's going to get tougher to do the more this season progresses.

The nine game stretch before the Four Nations is proving to be a hard nut to crack.

The Habs are about where they should be right now. They are no where near as bad as they had shown at the beginning of the season, but also not as good as they have been since the holidays. The soon to come break will do them loads of good. They've had a tough schedule of late and are running out of steam.

Team before indivuduals. The young players would greatly benefits from playoff hockey. Demidov won’t carry the team by himself.
He won’t have to, this team is already getting pretty good, he’ll have a similar effect to Carrier by allowing other players to slide down the lineup. If the D can somehow be stabilized a bit more, I think we easily make the playoffs next year with Demidov
