Playoff Push

No need to do ANYTHING right now but wait.

New goalie and new coaching system.

We are .500 in December.

Ulmark is a legit player and is finding his game.

Zub being out hurts our defence alot. The outside problems that have hit Perron have hurt the depth. Pinto is in a serious slump and Grieg while not playing bad has alot more upside.

Stützle, Tkachuk and Batherson are all having career years but it's obvious that they can take an even bigger step forward.

My hope was that the team could stay close in the first half to then bring it together for a strong push for the playoffs.

So far so good - especially considering the above challenges and potencial for improvement.

WTF was everyone's expectation after last year? We would be world beaters day one? This is a project that will take more than 26 games to figure out.

It's a good thing that Andlaluer is a smart patient man and won't blow it up because there hasn't been immediate overwhelming success.

This fan base - especially the ones on this forum are insufferable & hyperbolic to the point of ridiculousness.

Above is my post from the stupid "Sens emergency meeting" thread.

Super glad management didn't over react in December. Things are going better than I expected.

We had a trade deadline that was universally liked by pundits and most fans.

We had an awesome March but a little slow April. We dont have to do much to get in and should balance resting the walking wounded with standings.

99.4% chance to make the playoffs with a games left is awesome.

I want Toronto more than Washington because I miss the battle of Ontatio but either will do.

The thing about this team is that they play to the competition. It's gives us fits in the regular season when we lose to Buffalo and the Habs but I feel like we can do some damage in the playoffs.

People on here need to chill the f*** out and enjoy this team and April, May and hopefully June Hockey!

That thread was ridiculous, people were saying we were in a hole we'd never be able to get out of, 6 games later we were out of the hole.

UPDATE

Our magic number (in points) for the chasing teams are as follows:

NYI - 4 points
NYR - 8 points
CBJ - 7 points
MTL - 9 points
DET - 5 points

Moneypuck has us as 99.4% to make the playoffs.

So close we can taste it.

GSG!!
We have 7 games left to play, same as Montreal and NYR. CBJ, Detroit, and NYI have 8 games left to play.

It would be sweet to win the 3 games we have left with Montreal (1) and Columbus (2).

Florida is up next on Saturday at 2:00 pm, another afternoon game. Hopefully we can beat them given their injury situation.

UPDATE
Huge win!

Our magic number (in points) for the chasing teams are as follows:

NYI - 2 points
NYR - 4 points
CBJ - 3 points
MTL - 7 points
DET - 3 points

Moneypuck has us as 99.94% to make the playoffs.

Two of those teams would have to pass us to deny us the postseason.

One more win will probably make it official.

GSG!!

The wild card team with the better record will play the other division winner.

Wouldn't we play Washington then?

Divisional winner with the best record gets wild card with worse record.

So if the playoffs were today, Toronto would get Ottawa and Washington would get Montreal.

Winner of Washington/Montreal would then face the winner of NJD/CAR.

Winner of Ottawa/Toronto woud then face the winner of TBL/FLA.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The wild card team with the better record will play the other division winner. The way I read this is Other division means not the one you are in if 5 teams make it.

We would be the cross over team?

I hate this format.

The top team in the conference (Divisional winner with the best record) plays wild card two.

The "other divisional winner" refers to the two divisional winners, in other words, the divisional winner who isn't the top team in the conference, they play top wild team.

Washington will play MTL (or whoever ends up in that spot). We'll likely play the Atlantic Division winner, unless we pass Fla.

The interesting thing for me is the confidence I've had for two months we'd make it and how badly I want this. 2017 was a long time ago. From 1997 to 2017 we made the playoffs 16 times. This franchise has never had a drought. We've never missed two years in a row since we first made the playoffs.

Here we are. I've got playoff tickets. And I've been discussing and planning how to watch away games for two months. This is going to be awesome
