I agree we look much faster without Toffoli, but is it possible that we just look dramatically faster due to St. Louis not being a very fast team at all?

Probably 50-50 but remember the Blues kinda kept up with us in November speed wise. Shots were like 34-33 and we lost Jack that game too

Dude, I wanted him here more than most anyone on these boards, was more excited for that trade than any trade the Devils ever made.

Was hurt/ new team/ new system. Whatever. He was bad for long stretches and was given plenty of opportunities. No matter the excuse, he was bad, he's playing amazing the last few weeks, and I'm all for it. But I don't need to lie to myself to be right. I don't care about being right, he's great now and I'm excited to see him keep going.

Palat is very streaky on offense even if you know he will always work hard and play well defensively

All this screams of a GM not wanting to look back because his big offseason acquisition had to be dropped down the lineup. It basically took until Lindy was deadman walking to unstable Toffoli from Jack and it never was tried for long.

He's a first line player and that's where he should be. He's also largely been a RW in his career. Next coach has to find the best spot to get the most out of him. I'm sure the injuries kind of derailed him this year.
