Playoff Chase

We got Mrazek and Smith for nothing. So far Mrazek looks better than Talbot and Lyon have looked for a month combined.
Mrazek is objectively a worse goalie than them both and has shown that over many years. You’re really going to make this conclusion after 3 games when Lyon and Talbot have both had stretches of 10+ games of dominance ?

How many games had Veleno ever won us? Like what is your point? You think Mrazek sucks? Cool bro. He is starting and winning for us...

My point is that Mrazek doesn’t make the team better. We haven’t won any games because of Mrazek. Hes made some solid saves and also let a few bad goals in. He’s the same level of goalie as Talbot as Lyon. The trade was garbage in for garbage out

CBJ lost 6 of last 7. I’m starting to think that all of these teams next to the Wings in the standings might also be flawed.
The Rags have a team, if they can pull their shit together...if they do, the wings will be hard pressed to catch them...Islanders are picking up steam, but hopefully, too little and way too late, although I will admit, it would make my day for the wings to get in over a tiebreaker with the Islanders...

The WC bunch are usually teams with a flaw or two...that get hot at the right time, they duke it out on the last few days.

Do you watch games? Mrazek was our best player in all 3 games.

He’s been relatively healthy (for him) this season and is pacing for around 50pts. That’s worth $7.95M to you?

Well, he's out again with something Ruff said Norris "has been dealing with." Sounds like Norris has been willing to go out there but hasn't really been healthy this year, either.

We're paying Compher and Copp $5-6m. Personally, I see Norris as a significant upgrade over them. I'd pay $2-3m over them for that, if he's healthy. We'll see this summer how much GMs are willing to gamble when Bennett gets a new contract.

He also has 5 more years on the deal though...

The 5 years is a good thing if you think he can stay healthy.

Look, I'm not saying I think he'll do it, but that is what Buffalo is banking on. And if they believe it can happen, or are just desperate enough to roll the dice on it, I don't see the contract being an issue.

I don't think they are ever getting a healthy Norris, though.

I’ve watched all but 2-3 games this year. Not sure what you watched, Mrazek wasn’t close to our best player in any of the games.
Do you think you can get some context clues that Mrazek joins the team and he's immediately given all of the starts that he might be better that the other guys?

Or that he was acquired in a trade and is therefore being given chances to prove himself? He hasn't shat the bed, and has been solid in the games he's played. To act like he's a huge upgrade on our other goalies when he's had a sub .900 3 of the last 4 seasons is truly something. He has a career .906 to Talbot's .913 in far less games. He might be slightly bette than Lyon but some of you are acting like we just acquired Hellebuyck.

Over a long haul, yeah, Mrazek's water will probably find its level. But, right now, he is playing better than the alternatives and the team seems to have growing confidence in him. With how Talbot and Lyon have been a bit leaky lately, that confidence is probably a big thing right now. Ride it until it breaks.

Norris is an upgrade on them if he actually played a full 82 games, or even close to it. Thats also not a great example because those are two overpaid players themselves

Bennett is a risk for sure, but also offers a hell of a lot more outside of scoring than what Norris offers as well.
