Playoff Chase

Yeah - Mrazek is more or less on the same level of Talbot and Lyon...Not bad - not great - just average by NHL standards...Why did Yzerman feel we needed a 3rd??????
I guess after Husso was traded as a secure for an injury. He thinks we still have a chance for the play offs and don't want to call up Cossa or Campbell. Talbot and Lyon are both no goalies playing 3-4 weeks as a starter, we have seen this last year. Although I think you don't want to start sending players up and down when 5 weeks are left on the regular season.

With the extra year we now know our goalies for next year and in the end it's the bar for Cossa to get a spot beeing better than these average NHL goalies.

I honestly don’t get how some people on here think. Josh Norris has many years of proven NHL success and is still young. Kasper is great but he clearly has less value…especially for a team like Buffalo that needs to start to compete, not obtain more prospects
He one noteworthy season in his career.

His other seasons are:
35
3
30
And might hit 40 this year

All while being paid $8M per year.

We would have to win out to hit 98 points. Canadiens have 3 more points in one less game played and have an easier end to their schedule.

Game over, man. Game over.

Not happy at all with Larkin since the 4-nations. He's earned some benefit of the doubt, but i'm not sure anymore. If this team is to make play-offs he can't fall off like this.

Elmer had a tough game, he's more suited being the scroing threat on the 3rd line i think. He doesn't always make the right decision with the puck, so to say.

Looks like the schedule might be catching up to Edvinsson, which is alright, but it's a travesty that this team relies so heavily on a rookie defender. So won't put any blame on Edvinsson.

The team also believe Jeff Petry, Justin Holl, Ollie Mattaa were better than Edvinsson for half of last season

Or that Tarasenko was still a good player

Or that Walman was so bad he needed to be traded with a 2nd

Our management group has made some real blunders over the past year

I’d argue that it’s been mostly bad roster moves since Verbeek left outside of the DeBrincat trade.

Yeah, I was teetering after the 6 game losing streak, and the loss to the Caps tipped me into throwing in the towel on this season. They need a borderline miracle finish now and they continue to show they don't have that in them late season. Needed to win both of those back to back games against Columbus.

Obviously i'd love to see them prove me wrong, but I don't see it happening this year. Things need to be addressed in the off season, need to fire the Holl Gustavsson pairing into the sun, add a guy that can effectively kill penalties. I'm okay riding Kasper as 2C moving into next year, but we need some offensive upgrades for the 3rd and 4th lines, and try to part ways with Tarasenko.

Yeah I don't see them making it either. Their schedule is too tough and the roster isn't strong enough. I hope I'm wrong as well.

In all honesty, I don't think they will be making the playoffs this year. They had a nice streak after McCllelan was hired that gave me a spark of hope, but I think we're back to what this team actually is.

This isn't what I'm hoping for, but I'm trying to be more pragmatic in order not to get my hopes too high.

I agree, but this season hasn't been a total loss. Our young players have grown a lot, so much that it won't be hard at all to make space for more young players.

Playing hard fought games against the better teams in the league will be good for them.
