Let's rank who we want to move this offseason. It can be one of the big guys for cap space, or a smaller fish. I've listed everyone under contract in 2022-23.

I'll keep track of the top guys:

#1. Mrazek
#2. Holl
#3. Kerfoot

Mrazek
Muzzin
Nylander

I think this team could use a bit of a shake-up, and we obviously have a capspace problem. Mrazek speaks for itself. Muzzin I think is exactly the type of player we need more of, but I also think he's clearly already on the decline (though he did play well in the playoffs) and I don't think we can expect him to continue to be a top 4 dman anymore. Regardless of whether we keep him or move him, we're not getting prime Muzzin on this team going forward, and he has one of the biggest caphits on the team that could be used elsewhere.

Then Nylander is really one of our most valuable trade chips that is still a bit of a luxury to keep - you obviously are not just moving this guy out the door for the sake of moving him, but assuming you can get good value for him, I think it's the type of shake-up we could benefit from. We need better depth, better secondary scoring, more grit, and more of an ability to score hard physical "drive the net" type of goals in those really tight game 7s. I'd be hoping to move him in a trade for multiple pieces, including at least one with some legitimate top line / top pair upside.

Frankly, given that one of the things I mentioned above was the need for more depth, grit, secondary scoring, etc, there are certainly a few other forwards I wouldn't mind seeing moved (e.g. I'd like 2/3 of Kerfoot, Engvall, and Kase to be gone), but this format only let me choose three names.

Challenging to do something like this without knowing the return(s) involved. First for me would have to be Mrazek. A 3.8M hit on the books is too much for anything less than a 1A (which is a tough bet to make based off of this past season). The others would be Kerfoot (in the potential interest of making an addition to the top six involving a player currently outside of the organization) and probably Holl (in the event that having seven NHL defenders is going to be problematic for cap reasons).

We're losing nylander in two years anyways might as well get the value now.

Kerfoot 3.5 can be better spent

Mrazek we need his money to not have trash in net

Probably should have picked Mrazek 3 times but chose Engvall, Holl and Kerfoot. I don't hate any of these players, okay Kerfoot a little bit, but replacing Engvall and Kerfoot with a couple of more robust forwards might be the makeover this team needs. I'm thinking that you move Holl as a secret high value asset (RHD, reasonable deal, has played 2nd pairing minutes). It looked like Liljegren can take his spot. Of course that 3rd pair right sider might be something you'd want to lock in first before dealing Holl.

Still don't understand why people want Tavares gone when you can free up 9 mil off kerfoot mrazek holl. Those 3 aren't necessary whereas JT is core.

Would prefer new management do it. If no new management then status-quo. don't trust dubas and co.

if new management comes in then:

1) one of Marner/Nylander (b/c tavares is not gonna be/cannot be traded-> full NMC/NTC)
2) Holl and Kerfoot (ideally mrazek too but not gonna happen IMO unless sweetners are attached)
3) one of Muzzin or Brodie. Sandin should slot in as the 3rd LD after Rielly and Gio

unless they can move Holl/Kerfoot/Mrazek = about 9M + Muzzin or Brodie (about 5M) for a total of about 13M to grab a #1G and quasi #1D with a point shot

keeping the core without a solid goalie and a solid D with a point shot is wasting another year of Matthews.

Matthews/Marner/Nylander all have NTCs/NMCs starting end of next season (Nylander limited NTC/NMC while matthews/marner have full NTC/NMC in their last year) with potential to walk as UFAs.

Without strength in net and D and a decent coach (keefe is a moron); this team will not acheieve anything of substance. Winning just "one round" should not be counted as success.

I honestly would like to move on from Marner. I really like Mitch, local guy, fan favorite, elite talent- but $11 million for a non physical winger who can disappear at times during the playoffs is a luxury we cannot afford. Moving out his contract can give us a lot of financial flexibility.

The only problem is, I doubt there are many teams who would want him at that price, which would also reflect how overpaid he is.

Yes but then you are short 3 players instead of just one so that 9 million gets eaten up pretty quick

There are enough teams that would want him at that price. Getting a return that would satisfy the Leafs is another matter.
