Jonas Siegel whipping up an article about how now is the best time to trade Liljegren.
“the past two years have been a facade you all remember Luke Schenn right? That’s what Liljegren should be, and it’s what he can become.”

He’d propose some stupid shit like Liljegren for Schenn + 3rd and say it’s a steal for the leafs

The RHD spot for Toronto which was a big weakness since the Babcock days is starting to look vastly improved with Liljegren emerging as a potentially solid top 4 dman and Timmins promising performance to date.

Liljegren biggest supporters dont understand how big of a turn around he had last year. His upside was looking bleak and the overdrive guys were not taking shots at him, it was legit looking like Liljegren wasnt going to be a pro. To his credit it all changed with Girodano being paired with him and his confidence grew. Liljegren is his only player now. I would trade Sandin but would not trade Liljegren. Great goal in tonights game, he wanted that pretty bad i think considering he wasnt happy with himself earlier in the game , taking a penalty.

He always looked good in the NHL. (Obviously he needed experience, but it was always there to see.)

I liked that he played a simple game, and made the smart and safe play with the puck.

There were quite a few who recognized how he played and where his first priorities were.

He's only got better and better.

+22, best on the team.

Objectively, for all the initial teething pains he experienced, he showed flashes of his abilities too. The potential was there from the onset.

I Totally appreciate that he is a vastly improved player from 2 years ago. However we are also collectively very critical of our prospects even when they’re great from the onset (see Marner and Nylander an example).

No, Liljegren's detractors fully admitted they didn't even watch him play. Not one second - ever.

Sadly people listen to that authority. Collectively there is not stupider bunch of media personnel than those MSM assclowns who never watch but give opinions on Toronto players and prospects.

He's been good, he's just becoming great.

I don't see how you could watch Liljegren early last year and think his upside was bleak. He showed tremendous upside from the get go. Just needed some time to adjust to the NHL level.

Said we should have locked him up long-term this past off-season at a Rasmus Andersson number (would have required shuffling).

Since following this team, haven't seen many homegrown Leaf D blossom like this guy has. Happy to have been able to watch it all unfold from his first season with the Marlies to now. He still has a lot of room to grow, but there was a handful of posters here who saw this potential all along.

He's also received one of the weirder fan receptions i've seen, especially from the media. Amongst the fans, he's universally valued now, but the majority had written this guy off at one point. If you actually watched him in the AHL, you knew how clueless that was.

2-3 years ago, I thought he was ok, but nothing special. I was completely wrong, he’s excellent - a rock defensively, a good puck mover, good offensively, good skater, makes smart plays/reads all over the ice, reasonably strong/physical too. Just an all around dman with no significant weaknesses, good to very good at basically everything.

Hope Keefe starts to trust him more, it was crazy how he was healthy scratched most of the playoffs last year, and he’s still just 5th on the team in ATOI/GP this year. He shouldn’t be averaging 3 mins/game less than Holl, he’s much, much better.
