Personally, I think Gush was mishandled early on. He was put on a 4th line with limited minutes, then benched multiple games.
Hes a small, skilled player who needs confidence and to be put in a position to succeed. Personally, Ive liked what he adds and Id like to see more of a tryout for him. He is NHL ready, just needs a bit more time to acclimate. He's vastly improved his defensive/physical side of the game, but he needs the freedom to use his skills with skilled mates.
I thought warsofsky really hurt him in the first 3-4 games with how he handled him. I hope he gets more looks...
lastly: the sharks need young guys to step up more than they need older ones. Smith, Celebrini, Eklund, Cardwell, Gushkin, etc are the future of the franchise not Grundstrom, Kostin, G Smith, Goodrow, Kunin, or Sturm. I think if a guy clearly looks like hes not ready, then send him down by all means. But, if a young guy looks ready but stumbles a bit, then it's best to support him, particularly on a team that is crafting its future more than its present. This is why I hope grundstrom or Kunin ride the pine over cards or Gush.
