No one should boo star players at Staples. We need them disengaged and feeling no pressure.

I heard on a podcast speculation that Canes coach Rod the Bod is possibly the lowest paid head coach in all of NA pro sports. Amazing to think that Willie is cashing bigger checks.

Maybe BLuc takes a similar gamble and appoints Matt Greene as Kings head coach and Army as an assistant, and pay them combined what Willie gets now.

Grit, Energy, Budget.

Before he was signed Carolina interviewed a lot of coaches and there were rumors a lot of people they interviewed turned down the job. Same with the GM role.

The owner there is very hands on and was offering little pay.

Yeah, I imagine they've been getting a lot of cancelations the last few seasons.

You made a great deal!

There were definitely prospects and/or some sort of decent pick going the other way in the Patches deal. Not sure why this is hard to understand: Blake thought he just needed to add offense. Was confident in Vilardi being able to play at the time of the draft since he just came off of playing for Kingston. Feels he has a home run with Vilardi so it is okay to move JAD and a 2nd: especially if he doesn't have to give up what became the Kupari pick.

Point is: Blake thought he could have his cake and eat it too. Still have good prospects AND a contender. Thank god it didn't happen. Vilardi might be dead and this team is garbage.

Sad day for me. After seeing the next two games on Stubhub at $7, along with the direction the team is headed, I have decided not to renew my season seats after 13 years. No way is it worth it to pay $50 a game per seat when I can buy the two seats right next to me on Stubhub for $7 each.

It was like this in 2017 at the end of the season as well. I've actually been surprised that it didn't bottom out much earlier since the '17 team wasn't out of it as early as this year's trash.

It's a tough call to make, especially after having them for 13 years. I normally wouldn't think twice but the NHL isn't as fun as it used to be so, if you are losing, there is little in the way of entertainment. It's like paying to watch a scrimmage.

I'm fortunate to have Die Hard seats and only one at $37 or $38 so I'm not bleeding money after resale. My poor sister just got her first seat this season though and is paying $41 a game. Not sure if she will renew but my parents are back in at their $38 a piece. I feel bad for them too: especially since they drive from Fountain Valley.

This two-year price freeze is a nice little carrot they are putting out. Hoping the lottery goes well and there is possibly a phenom to watch by 2021. I'm sure they are losing a ton of accounts though. They also shot themselves in the foot with this ridiculous formation of their own resale site which makes StubHub a giant pain in the ass but still the best option since the Kings cap the f***ing resale price while tickets are on Stub for much, much less.

We can only pray upper management has come to the realization this team needs a comprehensive rebuild. The Muzzin/Toronto trade was a great start. Very good return. Same with the Pearson deal. Pearson will likely be playing in Europe at the end of his current deal, and Blake managed to turn him into some assets.

We just need this to continue. Breaking the bank for someone like Panarin is the last thing we need. Keep collecting picks and drafting BPA. Eventually, some of those prospects will start turning into legitimate NHLers, and we can continue adding from there.

If they luck into Hughes, I could see Blake going hard for Panarin and sticking him with Kopitar.

I could really see this scenario if they get good news on Vilardi before then.

He'd have to clear some contracts out, however. Can't see AEG being keen on just letting Blake spend their money again after what Kovalchuk has brought. Carter being the likely candidate.

Panarin-11-23
17-Hughes-73
19-9-Someone
Someones

Doughty-Tire Fire
Martinez-Tire Fire
Tire Fires

Goalies

I'm not saying he should do it because I think the defense is pretty garbage. I'm not completely down on the Bottom 6 though and the Top 6 obviously looks much better with Panarin in it. The unknown of Hughes is better than the known of Carter as well.

Yeah, what happened to Carter, or did you just put him in the airlock and open the outer door.

Yeah, even with Panarin and Hughes, that lineup is a big yikes for me.

Banking on Vilardi to instantly make an impact, and a 35 year old Kovalchuk to also make an impact - and both to stay healthy - was such a terrible gamble on Blake's part. I feel like he's not being criticized as much as he should be for that.

I get that Lombardi draws a lot of ire for laying the foundation of this leaky boat, but all Blake has done is try to patch it with paper mache.

It would be the most Kings thing ever though for that to happen and the Kings to lead the league in scoring...only to miss the playoffs because they can't defend!

But I could live with that as it would be entertaining

I really think Hughes is a mistake for this team....I think Kakko might be the better pick.....I watched Hughes at the WJC, so very limited....but what I did see....not much...too easily pushed off the puck, felt like he was being manhandled out there....

It would definitely be entertaining. I'm down.

Yeah I agree with this. Everyone is hyped about Hughes, but I have not been impressed. I watched the WJC games very closely, primarily focused on Hughes and did not see anything elite. He didn’t stand out much. I have also watched clips online, and I am not very high on him. Don’t get me wrong. I would draft him in a heartbeat if we luck into him. He would be a great 2c to replace Carter.

However, if we get the first overall, I would take a chance on Kakko. His skills are elite and amazing. I would like to see a Kakko/Kupari line with perhaps Kempe or Gundstrom. A mix of energy, speed and skill.

I would love either guys, but I don't think they would solve all of our problems right away. Both those guys would certainly lead the charge of the young prospects though.
