TL;DR He wants to live the metropolitan lifestyle where he doesn't have to worry about hockey, wants to impress his starry eyed family, doesn't want to be part of a rebuild, and wants to be happy for all 8 years instead of just 3 years.

Better hope that LA can keep him happy then.

Because of him there will be no rebuild. Jet fans thank him for making the the jets a better team.

I mean it's 2 games but so far not good

Next 20 games LA might only lose 2 games.

Only concerning thing from what op said is that would Dubois shift to being content now ? He's got the big city living and he's got money coming in.

I respect him. He wants to live a certain lifestyle and ensured that would happen, whether it was in LA, Montreal or another big city. Don't get the hate.

I think the beef comes from the fact that most NHL players strongly aspire to play in the NHL, not "live a certain lifestyle"

Makes him come across like an entitled chode when other people's passion is just his free ride

I don't think that makes anything mutually exclusive. You can give 100% of yourself on the ice and still place a premium on the off-ice value of where you live. Shit, I would too.

This. He's acting entitled when every other player in the NHL has to to go through the exact same process. This has all been negotiated between the NHLPA and the NHL. But apparently he's too good for that.

It would be one thing if say he had family that has some medical issues and he wanted to be closer(or some valid reason to not be where he was drafted) other than... well I didn't like where I was drafted and I get to choose in 3 years where I get to play but that's not soon enough so I want to pick now.

LA has some good pieces on paper but they’re horribly coached and even more horribly managed. Blake continues to treat Kopitar and Doughty like prime cornerstone players at critical positions, and it’s just a matter of time before the wheels fall off.

The Kings will probably be rebuilding again halfway through this PLD contract under new management. Hope he’s prepared for that.

You can... has he yet chosen to, anywhere?

CBJ and Winnipeg fans could answer that better, I guess. I know he had the final shift in Columbus but not sure how much he suffered from engagement issues otherwise. I never watched him consistently but I've watched him a decent amount (especially with the Habs rumors) and he looked good to me.

So Montreal was never an option lol?

Huh? He confirmed that it was even after the trade to LA happened. He said LA wanted him more.

“metropolitan lifestyle where he doesn't have to worry about hockey”

Oh boy. If playing hockey for millions of dollars per year is so inconvenient and stressing for him, he’s not going to be the positive driving force you expect at that AAV. Keeping him motivated will be a nightmare with the slightest hardship, which definitely spells toxicity in an NHL locker room. Remember MacKinnon’s drive to win, the work ethic he expected from his team and contrast it here. Yeesh.
