"With the team having the high-end talent that it does, especially in the key positions, maybe people on the outside think there should be more conference finals, more finals, more Cups. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen right away,"

I hate this mentality. You spend forever waiting for the right time next thing you know Sid, Geno, Letang, have aged and the window is closed. The "You can't win it every year" attitude kills your chances.

If it's all true, and I'm not sold yet, then just give Crosby his ****** wingers, and put Perron with Malkin and Hornqvist.

I would have been a lot more inclined to disbelieve the sources of this IF . . .

1. JR's latest interview didn't entail him specifically saying he wants a LW for Malkin. The ONLY way he'd want to fill that specific position is if there was a guy who only could play RW who would be slotted on Malkin's RW. That would be Horny.

2. The coaches haven't tried Perron-Sid-Horny for a game. Even with Geno out, when the time was ideal to try a second line of Kunitz-Sutter-Bennett, they didn't do it. They tried it once, in most of the third in that hopeless game in Washington, right after Kunitz dogged it worse than usual.

The alignments and how everyone has been used . . . says to me SOMEONE wants Perron AND Kunitz with Sid, which means Horny to L2 RW, which is why JR now is talking about getting Malkin a LW.

With the way the NHL is now i don't think superstar players are as valuable in hockey as other sports, to win in the NHL now i think you need depth team defense and goaltending.

Take a look at the Flyers now, they have 2 of the better players in the league and can't even make the playoffs.

So we're giving Rossi and Rossilite weight because it's something to complain about Crosby over? Great.

I kind of want Kane just to see what the media folks would do and what the Pens would dictate, so much entertainment over the years. You just know Rossi would make a stupid pun that would piss people off.

I can't see anything in Sid's history where he tossed inside info to a reporter, let alone toss a teammate under the bus to a reporter.

I'm calling a huge pile of steaming BS unless Sid is on tape saying this.

I would bet the farm that this crap about Crosby dictating his linemates is complete and utter garbage.

I don't think anyone's suggesting he's dictating. Just that he has his preferences, and people are very accommodating to his preferences.

From DB to Babcock to MJ, Kunitz has always ended up on Sid's wing, and not always for a lack of options. The only constant here is Sid.

Doesn't Rossi love to make up stuff about Sid? I seem to recall last year he was going on speculating some weird stuff about his romantic life or some **** like that. He's such a little weasel so I'll never believe a word he says about the Pens.

Yeah, he kept suggesting Crosby was struggling because he was having relationship problems when in fact it was just a wrist injury.

What's probably happened is that the Pens cut off some of Rossi's access behind the scenes so he's trying to punish them by fabricating stories on his own.

This is the way it's been for a while now. The Pittsburgh media is complete garbage... until they say something that aligns with what people on here want to believe. Then suddenly the local media's inane nonsense is something worth discussing.

Isn't that, you know, unethical? Maybe illegal?

Like slander or libel? It's definitely unethical but I'm still not sure why Rossi decided to become a journalist or if he knows about ethics. I doubt there would ever be more consequences than the Pens taking access away anyway.

Is TTEOT Rossi?

Not in love with Bylsma enough.

I find it sad that you base how much you like someone off of comments made from professional rumormongers.

I mean, Sid is one of the nicest guys in the sport, does a lot for the community, and is known to be incredibly hard working, but if Yohe and Rossi say something about him you don't like then it's definitely reason to dislike him.

perhaps like is not the right word.

Let me just say this, I *know* from inside info that Craig Adams is an A-hole.
BUT I also know that he is a pretty nice person to the general public, he chit-chatted with a friend of mines son over at Ice Castle a while back was nice as can be.

Public and Professional/Private relationships/demeanor are not always the same.
I do not base this off one idle comment from trib media clowns.
I am also not completely sold on it yet. You could be right that there is nothing to this.
BUT. I know that my eyes have seen him not playing within the system that MJ wants. I also have always blamed the idiotic winger choices for him on Blysma, but we see this sort of thing continue into another coach staff. I treat it more like a hypothesis that seems to fit what we see.

It's either that, OR MJ is the same sort of hockey idiot that Disco Dan was.

“I'm trying to keep it all in perspective,” Bennett said. “I'm a young guy. You go through lulls in your career. I'm positive in the fact that i know i haven't played 20 bad games. I've just played a few poor games.”

“Not to say i was shocked, but you're a big part of the team. You think you are, anyway,” Bennett said. “But it's a business. You have to put the guys in who are going to help the team win.

“I went from playing 15 or 16 minutes a game to a healthy scratch in three of the last four. I have no one to blame but myself. I have to figure out a way to get better and help the team.”

“The only real thing to tell you if you're getting better is by playing games,” Bennett said. “You want to get a rhythm, and especially in my career, it's been so choppy. I want to get in a rhythm. We've got a lot of good players on our team, especially with (blake) comeau coming back, it will be even tougher to crack the lineup. Hopefully, I can do that.”

Another coaching staff Bennett is going to end up hating for being mistreated for being a young player and not a veteran.

Either Sid has voiced that he would like Kunitz and Perron on his wings/the coaching staff is divining it and giving it to him OR the coaches think it's how to maximize what the team's best talents can do. Frankly, I don't care about WHY as much as I care about this being what it's going to be, which is why JR talked about getting Malkin a LW, and the consequences thereof.

Seems to me that MJ wants to revert to the Malkin-Hornqvist pair he envisioned at the beginning of the season. Not much more to it than that.

It's getting tiresome wondering about what goes on internally with this team. Some would say the fan base is paranoid, but a lot would say to trust your instincts. Something just isn't right. Especially with Crosby.

He doesn't look like he is enjoying himself anymore, at all.

That would explain Hornqvist on Malkin's RW, not Perron on Sid's RW, unless . . .

And, again, I'm not getting into what Sid may or may not want and what he may or may not have said in that regard. I'm only speaking to the fact that, when you look at what the GM says and what the coach has done, Kunitz, Perron, and Horny all are set in position and the question is who will be Malkin's LW.

The Penguins GM and coach are telling me that Rossi is more likely right than wrong IN SPITE of my instincts.

The Penguins GM and coach are telling you that Sid doesn't want to play with Hornqvist because he doesn't like having a net front presence on his line?

Not sure how you came up with that. MJ has been pimping Horny with Geno all year. I don't like it, but I think that's a much more likely scenario than Sid saying he doesn't like playing with a guy because of a skill that he has complimented him for multiple times.

I'm not sure how JR saying they need a LW for Geno supports what Rossi says either.

It doesn't. I was trolling. I wrote just above and in other threads that it really doesn't matter what Sid does or does not think and what he has or has not vocalized because it's what the coaches are going to do and the framework upon which JR is going to look to make moves from here.

That said, I don't think MJ's infatuation with a Geno-Horny pair is a reason, but that's just me.

That could be taken a lot of different ways. Could mean Kunitz is on his way out for Malkin's new LW.

Those quotes by Beau are not good. That proves, right there, our locker room is more divided than we will ever know. You can tell he doesn't agree with the coaching staff and young guys probably feel the same way. They are probably uber pissed that Adams gets to play every night.

Definitely not good.
