Just fo reference. Jesse compared him to Dumo because of his size and skating not necessarily his play style.

"The first time I sat down to watch video on Owen Pickering, I immediately thought of Brian Dumoulin.

Dumoulin’s big frame, the long reach, the fluid skating that belies the size of the player — it was all there with Pickering, the Penguinsfirst-round pick in the NHL Draft. Layered on top of those traits were a few new ones, too: confident puck-moving on the breakout, sneaking into the backdoor offensively and an increasing desire to have the puck on his stick in the neutral zone.

Where Dumoulin focuses on being a shutdown defenseman, Pickering has grown on offense and become significantly more active with the puck on his stick in the past year."

"This is where I get my Dumoulin comparison, but as you can see, that stops at size. Pickering can hit his top speed relatively quickly due to his lower body strength and long legs. Once he’s moving, he can throw dekes with his shoulders and upper body and toss defenders off track as he carries the puck."

I'd suggest that more recent tweet suggests a feeling that the play styles are getting closer.

So would you say a Dumo/Whitney hybrid?

His offensive totals seem to be plateauing. I don't follow Swift Current enough to know whether they just suck offensively as a whole or not, but typically you expect defensemen who project to any sort of offense at the NHL level to be hovering around a point per game by their final year.

Doesn't mean he won't be effective at the pro level if he concentrates on the defensive side, but the more it goes along, the more I'm not sure there's an offensive upside beyond what you'd typically get from a Dumoulin/Pettersson/Graves type player.

Pens depending on what happens with Jake at the TDL can add a couple nice young players to add to Puusy, Poulin, Yagar, maybe the LD #1 pick. A couple nice young LD can emerge. Now my hope is they finish in top 10 draft and maybe higher with some lottery luck. But time to integrate the younger talent especially since Sully will want out after next year.

Some quotes from Canada's coach on Yager

"I remember Yags from the Hlinka. He hunts pucks and he jumps to holes," Letang said. "He's not coasting, and he reads the play real well, so I figured he'd be a real good bumper in there and he did that. He jumped into the open, retrieved pucks really well, and that's important. If you don't support the puck everywhere, you know, your power play kind of dies a little bit and he did a real nice job of getting into those areas."

"He'll be real good on that line," Letang predicted. "Yager is an engine, a motor, same with Easton. They'll go retrieve pucks and if they find Wood in the slot, he's got that dangerous shot."

"He's a horse," Cowan said. "He's got an engine, and he can score too … If we finish our checks, we'll be good."

"I like the speed of those two guys," Letang said. "They hunt pucks really well. I think they'll have some chemistry."

Ilyin still putting up points- highlights are hard to find. Severstal seems to have no social media whatsoever. If flashscore is right he played 18+ minutes in their last game, a season high and amongst the most on the team. They have him on the 1st line, on LW it seems, but it seems like their first 2 lines are kinda 1A and 1B.

Don’t even know what to make of this board anymore. We have longtime posters on here actively rooting against Sid and any sort of Hart/Selke talk. It’s bizarre.

I'm holding out hope Poulin can be that center to develop into a good player. With Yagar and him at least Pens have two young prospects to play center.

At the very least, a few of us are convinced that he's -- at a minimum -- a 4th liner. His production in WBS since coming back from injury is promising.
