I feel like people want those two to play together because they are Russian. Namestnikov looks bad at center, as well. He's much better suited for wing, although its kind of forced because we only have two centers. I'm also not really sure they play so well together. Have they combined for one good play so far? Tip on a PP, but otherwise, I've not seen anything. Those two, especially Buchnevich, shouldn't have to play on a line with Vesey who completely stifles their games. Look at what he did today whiffing on a wide open feed in front. You don't put your best players with plugs on the third line, and a grinder in their place on the first line.

Fast has proven he doesn't belong in the top 6. This discussion comes up like every few weeks AV decides to put him there over a better offensive player. He's a good hockey player, but its always the same result. He holds the line back because he's just a complimentary player, and adds nothing other than grit to the line when facing off against top competition.

Why are we like the only team in the league that tries to balance the lines and ice time? How about we play our best players with our other best players and play them the most? Instead, AV tries to even up all the ice time, and tries insane combinations. Then people wonder why we don't have any 60 point forwards. Maybe because they play like 5 months less than they should. Vince Trocheck is the #2 center on Florida and he plays over 21 minutes per game. Our #2 center plays over 4 minutes less per game.

Vesey is not a good fit on this line.

Your hatred for Vesey is uncalled for. Kid played phenomenal last game. Buchnevich - like it or not - disappears. I am not saying Buch doesn't have more skill nor doesn't have offensive weapons. But his board play, and inability to use the body forces him to disappear. Yes, AV needs to play him more, but sometimes I have no problem with his lack of playing.

It’s like we watched two different games.

I was never a Vesey hater, actually had to defend him here quite a few times, but it’s obvious to me he’s barely holding on try to keep up with Buchnevich and Namestnikov.

Vesey's physical game is American and we're comparing him to a Russian.

I can't remember the last time Vesey hit somebody but next to Buchnevich he's apparently Milan Lucic.

This has nothing to do with being a good match on this line.

I’m also not attached to the idea that Buch must play with KZ but Fast is not a long term solution there, only in a pinch.

We’ll see how long the desire for instinct gratification lasts if this team finds itself stuck in the middle again next season, with AV as it’s coach.

I jest, but not really.

No he’s not. Andersson and Chytil are likely to push for spots. If Zuccarello gets moved, we don’t know what the return will be. We don’t know what the draft will bring. My feeling is that Vesey will get push d down in the lineup as more talent is added.

How long for RangersTown™ ?

Edge...they won't stop.

I was on my last fumes when they sent "the letter", and they already did a 180º.

I hate that we may have to trade one of our firsts and another 2nd or 3rd rounder to move up a few places with our first pick. There could be some decent gems in the late first round.
Me too. If this draft is so "deep", then one would think 2 really good players is better than just 1. Jeez I hate this, but I LOVE that we finally have a really good shot at some good young players.

I have to watch that net dislodging event again. I did not see intention by Georgiev when it happened, but that's why I need to see it again. In replay, I saw nothing that looked intentional.
Yeah man, it was very intentional. Just watch it again. His 1st attempt didn't succeed, try try again.

Did our opponent end up with a penalty shot when this happened?

Same thoughts we've posted about forwards group going forward (as early as next season). I actually like what I'm seeing Names and Buch doing together. Someone who could think and execute better than Vesey would do wonders for this line.

Kreider and Fast together have a 57% CF. They have 60% of the goals an 67% of the scoring chances. It's magic. Frankly, Kreider-Buchnevich isn't as good as Kreider-Fast. I'm not sure how you can say Fast has "proven" he doesn't belong there when he hasn't been in the top 6 over any significant samples, and his small samples in the top 6 have been utter domination.
I didn't know these numbers, but you're absolutely right about Jesper never given any significant playing time with skilled players on top 6. He has played there, but not for significant stretches. Unfortunately his defensive attributes have actually played against him and was always relegated and "pigeon holed" into that role. I hope he stays in top 6 for the rest of the season and see how he fares. He could have a more prominent role come next year as we have nothing to lose in the here and now. Those numbers don't lie, chemistry is chemistry and Jesper could be much better offensively if he wasn't so "defense 1st oriented".

I missed the game. Drove from DC to Bklyn.

How in the blue hell did we get two points last night?

And how was Sproul? I only saw the goal highlights.

My 1 and only takeaway from the game....

How on earth did Susan Sarandon make her living on film.

I didn't do GDT but I can't imagine that most didn't think it was nothing short of disaster. I hope NBC would stop it right there.

Other than being a celebrity what makes her a superfan? Her ooh's and ahh's were a destructing from the game-watching and her contribution could be summed up in "hockey players are sexy" and "I know Messier, Graves and Richter".

She's been a Rangers fan longer than many of us have been alive. I have no problem. She's part of the Sarandon-Matthew J. Fox-Liam Neeson superfan core.

People used to bristle at the notion that the fan base wouldn't handle a rebuild.

I'm not sure we even made it to the deadline before we were already talking about resigning the guys we had yet to trade, or how we better be contending in a season or two.

I think it took maybe 3 games post deadline before people started pining to squeak into the playoffs.

she seemed to know almost nothing about the game itself or any of the players..her commentary was absolute drivel. The ooh and ahhs at moments that didnt even warrant it were so unbelievably distracting and aggravating. I honestly would rather listen to the boston bruins announcers over her..and if you know me at all you know how brutal that is.

she. was. awful.

Yeah what makes her a super fan aside from being at most of the games when she could be literally anywhere in the world, knowing the current team well as players and having close personal relationships with most of the franchises best players ever?

...Is that not enough?

I didn’t love all the oohing and ahhing over the game and I wouldn’t really want celebrities doing commentary with any regularity but having her on for the first was some light hearted fun imo.
