I feel like people want those two to play together because they are Russian. Namestnikov looks bad at center, as well. He's much better suited for wing, although its kind of forced because we only have two centers. I'm also not really sure they play so well together. Have they combined for one good play so far? Tip on a PP, but otherwise, I've not seen anything. Those two, especially Buchnevich, shouldn't have to play on a line with Vesey who completely stifles their games. Look at what he did today whiffing on a wide open feed in front. You don't put your best players with plugs on the third line, and a grinder in their place on the first line.
Fast has proven he doesn't belong in the top 6. This discussion comes up like every few weeks AV decides to put him there over a better offensive player. He's a good hockey player, but its always the same result. He holds the line back because he's just a complimentary player, and adds nothing other than grit to the line when facing off against top competition.
Why are we like the only team in the league that tries to balance the lines and ice time? How about we play our best players with our other best players and play them the most? Instead, AV tries to even up all the ice time, and tries insane combinations. Then people wonder why we don't have any 60 point forwards. Maybe because they play like 5 months less than they should. Vince Trocheck is the #2 center on Florida and he plays over 21 minutes per game. Our #2 center plays over 4 minutes less per game.
Vesey is not a good fit on this line.
