I was at the game last night and the crowd was really dead. Not an excuse but we need to get our guys pumped up. And what's the deal with TV timeouts every 5 mins and the ice guys coming out shoveling snow? That kills any momentum. Not that we had a lot last night.

stepan isnt a 1c. his skating is brutal. and hes kinda soft but thats not a big deal really.

hes a slow motion centerman. mostly ok for a 2 or 3c but he needs better wheels to be considered a true 1c.

hes a very skilled guy who has good vision and if hes the 2c on this team, he will be very effective with faster wingers and a shooter, sniper, finisher type.

he is being exposed in this series for what he is. slow footed and not overly aggressive.

i am praying for an impact 1c on draft day or a draft day deal for one.

TV timeouts are always the first whistle (that isn't a goal or an icing) after the 14, 10, and 6 minute marks.

I get that we haven't scored in two games, but what is everyone so furious about? This was never going to be an easy series.

NYR face a must win situation at home tomorrow. That's exciting playoff hockey. Try to enjoy the moment instead of beating every missed opportunity to death in your heads.

fair enough. the anger is silly. the disappointment is real. furious and not scoring seems reasonable to me when you watch your team go 120 minutes with ZERO goals and alot of pp futility.

weve been shut out 2 games in a row against a marginal defense and a goaltender known for melting down.

i get were tired and the schedule has worked against us so far, but to go 2 games without a goal is frustrating and to see hank play out of his mind and us not score is miserable to watch.

tough series or not, not scoring goals has been a problem most of the season. it may well end our season.

tough to not be bummed.

I'm bummed too. But Fleury has always been at his best against us, we play into his style.

I think we have a very good shot at winning tomorrow which is perhaps why I'm in better spirits than everyone else. But I think calls for AV to be fired are premature and ridiculous.

I'm miffed at Nash, but what can he do? He's a 30-30-60 player who is expected to be a 50-50 player and never will be. He's a complement like James Neal on a good hockey team, and we expect him to do everything. MSL has had flashes but we have needed him to be our superstar and he so far has not been. Zuccarello has been un-clutch of late as well

So basically from all your responses to my 1C post, you don't want a 1st line center. You want a top 10 center in the league.

Yeah you're right man. Enjoy the ride, be positive but be realistic:sarcasm: In all seriousness I agree we need to chill and not be so hateful and spiteful. This is supposed to be the best and most exciting time of the year.........unless you're an Oilers fan where the draft lottery is the most exciting time of the year.

Yeah i get why he noticed them more though. Last night there was no flow. A lot of whistles, a lot of accidental off sides and icings, a lot of sloppy broken plays. So there were a ton of whistles anyway and made the game have no flow and very frustrating to watch.

I think most people realize stepan is a bit out of his depth at 1c.

He is a top 30 center production wise and is better defensively than most of the people above him AND HES 23! you (not actually you, this board) dont just throw away a player like that for the sake of making a trade.

No argument here, I've been frustrated with his play but beaver can't cut it so step is in a bit over his head at this point. I don't want him traded, I want him utilized correctly.

Get a center who can play with Nash and msl and pair step with kreids and fast/miller/trade and we are infinitely better and he will fare better as well. Kreids/step/ miller just seems destined to happen.

There is a lot to look forward to next yr when we dump the beav.

Personally, I thought they played very poorly.

BRB made a point that we are dumping the puck in on PP now because the opposing team is standing yup at the blueline. This is definitely visible, in both the Flyers and Penguins series. The problem is all year our PP has had success setting via skating through the neutral zone, not dump-ins. We saw this last night.

Also, getting scored on shorthanded is giving me Vietnam flashbacks of the Tortorella PP, where we basically tried to defend the opponent from scoring on us shorthanded.

As far as even strength goes, we have no traffic or 2nd chance opportunities on Fleury. he sees almost every shot. We need to be in the paint, deflect pucks and jam at rebounds.

Defensively, we need to clean up in our own end. Look out for the drop pass and the high guy coming in. The Pens scored on goals 1 and 2 in game 1.

I think Yzerman knew he was through and fleeced Sather.

He scored four goals in a game like a week before the trade. MSL also demanded a trade. This isn't Yzerman being a brilliant GM and selling an asset before he breaks down. If MSL doesn't demand a trade he's still in Tampa.

This is true but I also prefer him as a 2C. I like Stepan a lot, but if we had an elite C he would be one of the best 2Cs in the game. Right now, he's middle of the pack to bottom of 1Cs.

Stepan would be a GOAT 2C. He is a frustrating 1C. Has the qualities to be one, but can't quite put it all together...yet. No way we should move him, he's a legitimate top-6 centerman with room to grow. Doesn't mean it's a good idea to have him at 1C with Brassard/Richards as the other Cs.
