Can we get our fairy godfather GMGM now to retain on Zucc or Kane? Maybe we could get him to trade for Kane and then trade him to us for a bag of peanuts with 50% retained....

Botts will happily retain on Kane at 50% if you guys want him.

But you just lost your 2018 1st so I'm not sure if there's a fit there any more. I'm sure Rutherford won't want to give up Sprong.

JR says Sully knows Brassard really well, but when Sullivan was with the Rags, I don't think they ever pulled that deal yet, because I remember Dubinsky and Animisov still there around that time. Curious how they know each other so well. That just seemed so random, was curious about it.

I hope we do get another defensemen, I like Hunwick as a number seven or even on another team.
Wait, you're not mad that the Pens dealt with a shady GM that was unscrupulous with his dealings and all that fun stuff you were going on about yesterday for bad business practices?

Sullivan was an assistant in 12-13 when the Rags got Brassard for 13 regular season games + playoffs. So I guess "real well" might be a stretch, but he does know him.

Do not bring other boards up. It only leads to bad stuff. Keep this in check. It's an amazing day but we all know how difficult it is to win. 2013 we dominated March and looked unstoppable. We were stopped. Let's enjoy it but keep other boards out of here. :)

It's just crazy that we have Jake, Sheary, Sprong, Simon and ZAR up front that are so young and not even counting both top notch goalies under 25
Just sick what JR has done since taking over

Can't speak enough about how important those ELCs are to allowing us to be this deep. So these guys who keep coming up - just as awesome as our really nice acquisitions.

Actually not needed. Mouser just posted that the Pens now have $1.875 m in prorated cap space. That would be about $6.5 million give or take in annual contract space. Obviously JR is not done.

Edit: or not. I still am not sure if it is the lower amount or higher.

Yeah, no reason to trade him for a rental....but perhaps he'd take a 2nd....:)

Ah yeah, I had to go look that up, thanks. Yeah the whole "knows him well" bit might be a bit much. But man, so glad this thing is finally signed sealed and delivered.

I hope we see him tomorrow.

Holy shit!!!!

I was completely on board with Gus+1st+Cole for Brassard. Throw in some scraps plus that much retention on Brassard? I can't believe it. My biggest concern is that the team that wins the trade deadline usually doesn't win the Cup...and it would be hard for me to believe someone else winning the trade deadline.

The last reported price on Kane was a 1st + good prospect. I think the price is going to drop to a 1st OR good prospect.

Maybe a 2nd if Botterill is working undercover of course ;)

It's AAV. So what you see is what you get.

There are still big names that could be moved. Karlsson and McDonagh are 2 of them. Should be an interesting weekend

The second biggest victory was keeping Sprong. How the f*** did we do that?

I love the hate. I absolutely genuinely love the hate we get. People are just mad that other teams have drafted high, tried to develop, tried to hire the right people and sign the right guys and have not been able to replicate the kind of success the Pens have had since the 2005 lock out. People genuinely hate us and it cracks me up and I love it.

We're the Bond Villain that everyone cheers for and boo's when the good guy tries to beat us, we're the envy of the league and I love it. I hope this team just runs an absolute train through the league and just destroys every team's Will the way they have the Capitals in the playoffs.

The best part, we have the 4 centers for another year at least (Sheahan is a RFA).

So bring the hate, fans of lesser teams.

That turned out way better than I expected. Glad Sprong is staying (at least for now). Losing Cole might hurt. Have to think there's more to come with the cap room though.
