Let me take a guess here.

Pittsburgh does this to get Novak who's a solid player and he ain't too old. A bit more skill that could work with Crosby/Malkin better than Bunting ever did. They get Schenn to try and flip him to whoever.

Nashville does this because they want to come back competing next year with the big contracts they signed. They think Bunting will be a better, grittier fit likely on the 3rd line. Especially with younger players who won't have the strength to battle hard for pucks on the wall.

No Nashville wants to tank. Bunting is on IR with appendicitis, with this trade we got rid of Schenn(hallelujah) but get older and worse at forward.

You stick to your guns and you have a plan... FINE

And then... you choose to dump him for an avg Novak and excuse me Luke Schenn

So money is being spent regardless and you're just making Crosby's end of career more miserable

Schenn is a UFA this summer and used to be only our 7th D man before Trotz gave away Fabbro. Why would we care to trade him to a division team(we are nobody's rival right now)
