Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

What would a Nelson & Palmieri combo cost? They seemed to have good chemistry. Would greatly improve the middle 6.

Probably too rich for a team that should be prioritizing a defenseman over a winger. Just throwing stuff out there.

I would prefer reilly smith if that were an option after nelson
Unfortunately all of Canada is on his no trade list, apparently.

FWIW, Pagnotta was the first to toss out Barlow's name as being "out there" in trade discussions.

Will be interesting to see if that tracks with Nelson or is a nothing burger.

Prefetti for a rental or aging forward who's approaching the wrong side of 30 is a joke... prefetti is virtually untouchable at this point based on his contract alone... only one I can see we trade him for is guy like boeser or Patterson and having canucks retain some of his salary... similar to the Seth jones move.. throw in a first along with him

I think Nelson could be a good fit for the Jets. Don’t know why the Isles would trade him, because they may make the playoffs. I can also see Chevy trying to make a deal for Risto. I guess we’ll find out, and it wouldn’t surprise me if nothing is done, or maybe just a depth guy that’s a decent scorer.

No way jets don't pull the trigger on something major.. especially considering how the last stretch of games has shone a light on how badly this team struggles to score when the powerplay ain't executing... and defensive depth needs to be addressed.. Stanley can't be trusted in the playoffs.. they need 2 or 3 pieces every other team is loading up and to suggest we stay pat when we're in position to win would demoralize this team and be huge slap in the face for guys like Mark and connor hellybuck.. go all in this season and if they still can't do much in post season than maybe we need to reevaluate how we move forward with the core..

thinks chevy will do every thing he can on brock nelson if not nelson maybe laughton mentioned adding a piece on D mentioned david savard

So Ovie is very close.
Is vs. Jets on the radar?

Side note: Did not noticed that Tiktok is NHL sponsor :)

I hope we don't end up doing a deal that pushes Cole out of his spot.
He won't excel on the 3rd or 4th line.
Even if you replace him with a better player you're then losing his value.

Vlad can play on any of the lines so for top 6 it's C or bust.

I have a feeling those no-trade clauses are going to likely f%$^ us (or maybe save us from ourselves).

A D would make the most impact but they are way harder to come by.

Curious, would Jets fans rather Laughton or Donato if acquiring Nelson is a no go???

Laughton’s got the extra year, but Donato brings more offense to the table.

Personally I think if Lou decides not to move Nelson or the bidding gets ridiculous, I would

To Donato and grab one Ferraro/Oleksiak.
Donato is not a true center. I think acquiring him to move Namestnikov down the lineup would leave people disappointed. He's also more of an offensive zone player, if he is playing with Bedard. So that doesn't really fit him in the bottom 6.

I think if the Jets acquired Donato, their best move would be to put him on a line with Namestnikov and Perfetti as a finisher.

And move Ehlers to Lowry's line to generate some scoring with the big man.

Laughton has some defensive chops. He could fit in a couple of different spots, and play center. But I feel like his troll job on the way to Winnipeg, maybe shows how he feels about being traded here.

I feel like Stanley hasn't lost his job as the 3LD. Not a single move Arniel has made indicates he's going to get benched. But there is a room for a RD that can play up the lineup if De Melo struggles or goes down. Colin Miller is a limited minutes defenseman at this point of his career. At #4 he would be solid depth as he was last year.

I wonder what the cost what would be for Jokiharju and Krebs.

Which one is faster? Any player acquired should be able to fit in with jets speed game

I definitely think the Jets are going to take a strong look at Nelson. It would be very surprising if management believes they have the center depth to get past a team like Dallas.

But there's a lot of things they will be looking at that regular fans don't. Faceoffs. You always want good faceoff people in the playoffs. Faceoffs are amplified, when one shot could be the difference, in a series. Like game 5 against Vegas, 2018.

PK. Oilers streak of 25 PKs last year got them out of the West. 2 best PKing teams last year ended up in the Stanley Cup final. Jets were tied for 2nd worst. Top team in the NHL in PK this year? Dallas.

Nelson checks all those boxes. Definitely see him in key faceoff situations. On the PK with KC would seem to be a perfect fit. Bumps down Namestnikov, who isn't strong on the draw, and Kupari who is strong on the draw, but has some bad results otherwise (worse than Stanley). Kupari has become a guy you can throw over the boards to win a draw, clear the puck, and get him off the ice.

Then there is the things most fans look at. Secondary scoring.

But you go down the lineup... De Melo goes down, who is stepping up on the PK in his place? It's likely not Colin Miller based on regular season results. Someone has to go in there, but also be able to push the pace, because if/when the Jets play from behind they probably don't have the skaters to generate offense beyond the skating trio of Morrissey, Pionk, and Samberg.

Stanley hasn't been all that good on the PK, but Morrissey is, and might get more time in the playoffs there, also Fleury has been, which gives some options.

These are some of the things Chevy has to consider.

Tampa set a high price on rentals with their moves.

I think you can deal with Lou if you give him somebody who can play on the Isles next year, over a developing prospect. That's why I proposed Chibrikov. Because the Isles aren't going into the tank. They have too many veteran pieces. 1st is draft capital. The only fear I have is that Nelson could be a true rental, and those don't always have the heart when the going gets tough. Hopefully he is more Stastny than Hayes.

I have climbed on board the Risto train. I think defense is just as important as centers come playoff time.

I don't see any way the Jets acquire both players though. Unless they are leveraging the future in this one run. I think it's one big trade, and a couple of smaller ones.

If they don’t upgrade at 2C and on D they won’t get beyond the first round. Let’s not forget how good the regular season was last year and what happened in the playoffs.
